Default xmas present fot the Z

Well, my parents want to know what to get me for xmas and i want something for the car but my dad wants to hold off on engine mods. I'm going to buy an exhaust with my money, but my question is what do you guys think i should ask for that is not an engine mod? Any ideas? ECU?..... Give me some good ideas people!

A new ECU would be pretty nice..bout $600 bucs. How bout some new aftermarket rims? But then again you didn't specify what you already have and what you think the limit would be for presents.

oh yeah, forgot to mention, I'm looking for around 600 or less. I might chip in a little. I had thought about getting wheels but just the wheels would be kinda expensive and then i'd have to get tires on top of that. I think i'm gonna try and do that when i get taxes back. Adn i can't do the gears, no engine mods for right now

The ECU is as much as an engine mod as anything... what about a nice sound system or some custom leather?

haters are not needed here. Who cares if his parents give him stuff? It is all about his attitude upon recieving the gifts, and he seems very grateful and respectful of his parents money. Why do you automatically assume he doesn't have a job or didn't have one over the summer? My parents/gparents bought my Z for me, and I worked my butt off over the summer and every day after school to help pay for it, then to add all the mods... so, until you have something to add to the convo, click the little "back" button on your browser, jerk.

If you are planning to mod later, I'd wait on the ECU. You will realize the most gains if you do it after other mods. I'm holding off on wheels until the tread wears out on the stock tires. Is CAI or RT cats considered an engine mod? You could get both for around what you are looking to spend. Hmm, I'd put that money in the Stock Purchase program at my work but that's me, do what you like.

I somewhat agree about the parents thing. I'm paying 100% for my Z and I'm 22. Maybe because I look about 18 I get a lot of crap for it.

I can't stand hearing "Aww, did daddy buy you that car?"

They get even more mad when I tell them, "Nope, my college degree bought me the car."

Also, I don't remember ttsupra stating that his/her* parents bought him/her the car. That's just an assumption.

*I've never met a girl named Chip, but you know what they say about assumptions.

Icibahn, first off my parents did buy the car for me, but i also help for most of school and my apartment. And second, its my parents money and they work damn hard for it and they can spend it how they want. I also have a tough major in college and i play soccer so i dont have time to work, so you can shut ur piehole

Wren57, thanks

yes, i'm a guy

In regards to the expensive gift, if you look at my earlier reply, you may notice how i said that i might chip in to buy something.

No need for an ECU with no engine mods... when you start moving more air then it will be time for one.

Go with a Nismo Exhaust for $847 + Shipping. Tell your dad its covered by Nissans parts and acessories warrenty so he wont worry

How much of a sound difference is there with the nismo? and what is the hp gain? I was thinking about injen or stillen but who knows.

Wren57 I didn't realize you were in tuscaloosa. I was just down there 2 weeks ago for college club soccer nationals!

Well depending on how much you're going to chip in, or how much you can stretch that $600 (I'm an expert at the art of persuasion/annoyance until someone gives in)

But if $600 or so is going to be your limit, then I would maybe go with one of the following:

-V-1 Detector ~ $400 or so new (from V-1 site, you could probly get cheaper off ebay)

-Katzskin Leather ~ $500, it looks hot...do some searches it can look VERY GOOD IMO

-6000K or higher HID Kit ~ $300+ depending what kit you find, and what power (kelvin) the kit is at

Otherwise, even though it might be tough depending on how patient you are, you could just try and save that $600 or maybe put it in the bank, then save up for something more. Wheels + tires, body kit, exhaust, what have you.

happy shopping though!

-drew
