Near Death/Collision Stories
Almost ran into a pole last night.
Was going 70 down a poorly illuminated road and knew a corner was approaching, didn't know the road cause I didn't live around there. Didn't have high beams on as I was nice and didn't wanna blind people.
When I got close enough and the low beams illuminated the corner enough, I saw that it was a near 90 degree corner. Slammed on the brakes, jerked the wheel as far right as I could, saw that I was headed STRAIGHT for the pole last minute the rear end fishtailed and I was able to power out of it and missed the pole by a foot.
I had adrenaline pumping through me the rest of the night. I think it was fair to say at that point that the sporty nature of the Z and RWD saved me from hitting the pole.

Glad to hear you made it ok, but I have two questions.
1. Why were you traveling 70mph on an unfamiliar, poorly lit road?
2. How did you know a conner was comming up if you didn't know the road?
Just wondering.....

1. It's the normal-ish speed on the road, it was sort of a highway and the corner was an exit that merges onto a different road.
2. GPS
Hey, old people do stupid things too.

How about this?
T-Boned! Well, sort of. Driving to work one morning after it rained back in December, there was about an inch of sheet ice across every road surface. Coming off the expressway, the light started changing and it was too late to stop, so I decided to go through instead. The intersection had an incline on either side to keep water out of the middle, and on the downhill side my rear end kicked out and I went into oncoming traffic. The truck I hit looked just as bad. It was about -30F that morning.
The near death part was actually the passenger door speaker magnet shooting out and smashing the side of my head. I needed staples to pull my scalp back together and the concussion was bad enough that I had to get a brain scan to make sure I wasn't bleeding to death. Other than that, my knees smashing into the dash, and my face hitting the steering wheel, that was it for injuries. I got a 10 point ticket for reckless driving at first, but since I hadn't so much as a parking ticket in my name, they dropped it. Good thing I didn't have a passenger.
The worst part is there's less than 100 miles on my $1100 heated Italian leather seat upholstery.
Anyone need some Z parts?
