Don't listen to the 5at hater,
Op best thing you can do is SEARCH!!! There is alot of info in this forum
Members already told you the truth, all the NA mods for the Z are just for sound and MILD gains, you'll be better off and have more fun with gears and VB upgrade, younwant fast? TT that bish .... Other than that don't bother unless it's for "looks" or "sound"
GL and search

Yes, it is possible to turbo an auto. You will need to build the transmission in order to take the added power. I do have a custom turbo setup on my built automatic transmission but I didn't get to where it is all at once. It was a long road and you sir are just staring down that road for the first time.
I really have to disagree with the tribal knowledge about NA bolt ons. I have a 2004 and have gone through all the bolts ons.
Best mods for power increases are Intake, plenum spacer, exhaust AND TUNE. Tune being the most important of those four items. Improving the VQ's breathing is as easy as opening it up with those bolt-on parts. Without getting your stock ECU tuned to take advantage of what these mods CAN do, then your bolt on mods won't be optimized. They might move the power curve around a little - giving you peak gains at different rpms than before.
Let me explain it another way. If you did NOTHING else except get a tune the day you bought it from the dealer, you can see gains up to 25whp over the stock trims. Add the bolt ons and you get up to 15whp more - depending on which bolt-ons you get and who does your tune.
I had my stock ECU tuned with UpRev Osiris when I was still NA. In addition to adjusting the Air/Fuel map tables, there are torque management features that allow the tuner to go a little easier on your auto trans.

You don't need to have a built tranny for an FI 5at, unless ur going BIG!
Other than that many members do well with just VB upgrade and tranny cooler, these two items I would say is a must, not built tranny.
And what we mean by NA mods worthless, is bc if you add everything up ur paying TOO mUCH ($$$/whp) its not worth it, if you want fast out Of our pigs, go FI! Other than that it's just cosmetic
Sure it will be faster than a stock z, but stock Z's are slow! Full bolt on de is almost equal to a STOCK hr
You will still by a v8 @ the strip
Fast Z = FI

short of FI the only 'performance' mod worth doing on an auto Z is a gear swap to 3.7 - 4.1. you won't really feel anything else unless you are doing a complete engine build.
if I could go back in time I wouldn't have picked up an auto Z at all, but if I was still stuck with that decision, I would have avoided the bolt on N/A mods all together. huge waste of money. I had an intake/plenum/high flow cats/dual exhaust/osiris + dyno tune and my car didn't feel any faster than stock. I gear swapped from 3.3 to 3.5 and damn, THAT was noticeable and more fun to drive.
wheels, suspension/handling, aero and paint. FI or bust.
