This happens to all of my Nissan keys over time. You'd think that they'd change the key design. Oh well, for now, if you're broke like me and can't justify the new key from Nissan with chip:
DIY Nissan Key Broken Hoop Fix:
1) Insert key into vise
2) Drill two holes into key as shown on picture
3) insert black zip tie through both holes and zip around key (or other type of wire)
4) Cut excess from zip tie
5) Thread your key ring through the zip tie
With my old Maxima key, I just drilled a single hole and fed the key ring through that, but eventually, more just broke off. I found with my frontier key, that using the two holes and a zip tie, that the stress is placed on the zip tie and not on the plastic of the key itself. If you have to replace anything, it will be the zip tie.
Again, this is ghetto, yes. But it is a good temporary fix until you get a new one.

Looks like you were lucky enough to find the broken piece and glue it back on. I didn't see it in the original pic, so I figured it was gone.
Good job, OP. I was never that lucky.

the key that broke was actually my sub key, lucky for me i found my master key still in its envelope that the dealer gave me.

Those keys are extremely cheap! Probably break within a week!
