It's easy to pull away in a Z (though I have an '05 with 300hp and HR engine).
U dropped an HR in an 05??

I have a 5AT and I let off the gas when I shift in manual model so everyone thinks it's a stick.

How fast do you usually pull out on the clutch? Faster in higher gears?

Ill try and start using all six gears again...

Anybody in phoenix/scottsdale area with a z wanna ride?

There is some serious underlying hidden messages here.

Best answer ever for this question.

You have 6 gears, use them. You will get used to it.

No. I have a 35th anniversary. I assume that HR stands for high rev which came standard in the car.

What I've found that works is it dump the clutch at 4k go sideways through first, then sideways through second, then chirp third. After that I'm locked up on the brakes for the stop light.

Haha I like .

Anyway I typically go through all gears. As mentioned before, more load on engine is worse for gas mileage not better.

Seriously you all. Use them. 1 is there for a reason. Just as the rest are all the way up to 6.

I did not know that. The computer tells me otherwise.

I believe you are referring to the rev-up, not the HR. HR's have dual throttle bodies and intakes (the easiest method for identification).

And to the OP,
Please just shift like a man. If you don't want to drive a stick, give your girl back her car and get an auto. Even better, get a Prius, the shifter doesn't even look like a shifter anymore.

With all the OPs b!itching about having to shift too much, why not just buy automatic and call it a day?

I use all my gears, regardless of the situation.

This should be merged with the Why 17 Year Olds Shouldn't Have Z's thread.

wait, why do people start from second at a stop? I seriously don't get it, and it really is harder on the clutch than starting in first...

Only time i skip gears is when i accelerate hard to redline in first or second. I may then skip to third or fourth.

Also, do you guys engine brake? I always thought brakes were cheaper than transmissions to replace...

I don't think people practice this method of driving. I think the "special" people only do. I am starting to think this is another troll thread. Who would ever bring up such a stupid question!?!? He put third and fourth as an option. No one can be this stupid.

But it's not! That's the horrible part. I have on many occasions been with a buddy who thinks he knows a lot about cars, yet ALWAYS starts from second at a stop. His Dad does it too, and they drive SA and FC rx-7's. I don't get it, but obviously no one starts in fourth.

There should be an option for you to leave it parked.

I drive my Z like a boss........you obviously drive your Z like a secretary.

Sorry...don't think I can help you on this one. There is WAY to much in your post to pick on.
