Default How long did you wait?

I ordered a CS 04 Enth. back in October, and I have yet to recieve one call from the dealership regarding how much longer the wait will be. Hate to be impatient, but dammit....

If you ordered your car, how long did everyone here wait? What advance notice did you get that the car was on it's way? The only thing I have been able to get out of the dealership is "It's ordered, and we don't really know how long it will take"

Default Buy off dealer's lot

I went into the Nissan dealer at 11:00 a.m. on March 1, 2003, and drove my 2003 Track model home the SAME DAY at 5:00p.m. Why wait months? Make the dealer find you the car you want NOW. Don't get too hung up on options, models or colors. My first choice for color was Daytona Blue. But the only blue car available in my area was a Touring 5AT and I did not want that. I wanted a Track. So I took a Silverstone Track with NAV. Frankly, I would have been happy to save the $2,000 and give up the NAV. Every car at the dealer was loaded with NAV. So I took it. Today, 9 months later, I am very happy. IMHO, find the car that is closest to your ideal on the dealers's lot, and go for it. Why wait months just for the perfect colors or options?

Only one reason, really... I worked in the car business when I was in college, and I know how some sports cars are treated on the lot. Not to say all dealerships, or even the majority of dealerships treat their cars this way, but I saw enough to be sure I would never buy a car off a dealer's lot again. I won't take the chance with my $30k.

Sure, I'm a little more picky than the average car buyer, but I've worked hard for my money, and I'll be damned if some 16 year old kid is gonna take my new car down to the gas station at full throttle.

Sorry for the rant...

jaa1755,

Search for some older posts where people ordered cars last October to find out their experiences. This may give you some insight into what to expect this year. I ordered Sept. 13 last year and got the car about Dec. 28. You need to make sure that the order has been accepted by Nissan. Don't wait on the dealership to call you to tell you what the status is. Call him weekly to find out if he has heard anything. He should be able to give you an Order # if Nissan has accepted the order. Last year, they only accepted orders during the first week of each month. The folllowing month was the build month. The next month was the shipping/delivery month. Check some older posts and you will get a huge amount of the details on how this process works.

Good luck!

I waited 3 months for mine. It was ordered in August and I got it November 8th.

If you can, get the Order number and call Nissan North America @ 1-800-647-7261. They gave me some info about it. Not as much as I liked, but way more than the dealer did........

From the time I signed the papers, it was a little over 4 months to get it. The model and color I wanted was not on the lot and not in the area, so they had to order one.

Just be patient and try not to think about it It's definately worth the wait.

I walked onto the lot, saw the car I wanted, and drove away cause someone had already put a deposit on it. recieived a call at 5pm; the guy who reserved it only had 24hours to return, and his time was up. went back and got my car.

If you have NO patience...go to Nissan.com and build the car you want. Then, check zip codes within a distance you are willing to drive, fly or have dealer deliver. I did....once they knew I was serious, saved BIG bucks off the MSRP, got a 100% match, airline ticket refunded, plus drove the car home from Scottsdale to Albuquerque. That saved me driving around the city as rediculous low speeds until "break-in" miles reached.

I waited exactly 50 days. And I am pretty sure that my car was in the country for close to two weeks. It had to come all the way to Cincy though. This seemed reasonable to me.

I like waiting, that's why. I know, I'm a pervert.

I ordered last week, should be here in Feb 04. If you can't find the color/options you want in a car on the dealers lot and you don't mind waiting, then order it.
