My only problem with the GTO is that it has the name, but none of the heritage. At least the Z is a (somewhat) back to basics sports car which is reminiscent of the original Z.

The only supercharger available for the S2000 is made by Vortech(8psi, $5,000 installed) and only shaved off .3 seconds in the quarter mile. I wouldn't slap on one of them on my Z if that is all the gain I would be getting.

Anything is possible with money.

If you have a LOT of money, you can do anything. I mean hell, thee is a 700hp at the wheel FWD CELICA out there. So, if you have money, you can do anything.

Baven, you are the one who sounds blinded by brand loyalty. You must own a Corvette or something powered by an LS1

I am another non-brand specific guy. Wether Baven is biased or not, the LS1 is probably the best performance engine available in an affordable new car today. It is bulletproof, puts out 300+ hp and tq, and takes modification very well. We will have to see if the VQ engine holds up to 50% increases in horsepower without losing durability.

Actually, I have stated it several places, I drive a 01' E46 M3, so my support of Chevy and Corvette has no vested interest for me. Just the truth

I've talked to several of the guys I work with who grew up in the era of the "real" GTOs, and they all think this new thing is a joke. As far as I can tell, there's nothing the set it apart from other modern cars, and there's nothing to create an appeal with fans of the original GTO. I expect it'll be a lot like the Grand Prix GTP, with a bit more horsepower. Completely different market segment than the Z.
