Oh yeah, performance gains from forced induction are not measured in differential HP, they are measured in percentage gain. A kit designed for a 150HP engine may get you a 75HP gain which is 50%. The same type of kit designed for a 300HP engine (all other things being equal) could get you a 150HP gain, still 50%. Of course this is highly theoretical and assumes alot but it would still be practical to have a 450HP 350Z that is driveable and reliable. I believe there is a supercharger kit for S2000's that gains 100HP and this engine has higher compression than the VQ.
The only supercharger available for the S2000 is made by Vortech(8psi, $5,000 installed) and only shaved off .3 seconds in the quarter mile. I wouldn't slap on one of them on my Z if that is all the gain I would be getting.
In October SportCompactCar they have an s2000 with a Comptech supercharger. It added 78hp at the wheels(Not the crank)It doesn't have a 1/4 time but it Knock 3 seconds off from 10 to 100 mph.The stock s2000 had 15.1 and the supercharged had 12.2.
Anything is possible with money.
If you have a LOT of money, you can do anything. I mean hell, thee is a 700hp at the wheel FWD CELICA out there. So, if you have money, you can do anything.

Baven, you are the one who sounds blinded by brand loyalty. You must own a Corvette or something powered by an LS1
I am another non-brand specific guy. Wether Baven is biased or not, the LS1 is probably the best performance engine available in an affordable new car today. It is bulletproof, puts out 300+ hp and tq, and takes modification very well. We will have to see if the VQ engine holds up to 50% increases in horsepower without losing durability.
I've talked to several of the guys I work with who grew up in the era of the "real" GTOs, and they all think this new thing is a joke. As far as I can tell, there's nothing the set it apart from other modern cars, and there's nothing to create an appeal with fans of the original GTO. I expect it'll be a lot like the Grand Prix GTP, with a bit more horsepower. Completely different market segment than the Z.

The SC'd S2000's run high 12's or so. The mag that posted the vortech story is filled with idiots for editors. If you take a car and add 100hp, and your yuppie drivers can only get .3 seconds off the car in the 1/4 mile, then it just makes your drivers look stupid.... as well as the editors for publishing it.

Though no one has really posted times of the vortech SC'd S2000, the comptech ones run high 12's as I said before....
