Will dealerships lend out rental cars?
The biggest hurdle I am going to have when the time comes to obtain a Z, is figuring out what to do between the time i get rid of my car and get the Z.
If I trade it in, there shouldn't theoretically be any wait I think. However, I'd prefer to sell the car instead since I know I won't get jack for trade in.
With a car as expensive as the Z, has anyone heard of dealerships helping out during the wait period at all if there is one, since some people would be out of a car?
Some co workers of mine said i should check into this as they have heard of this. I haven't though.

Hmm okay. Thanks for the info! Also, to those with experience trading in their cars...I know there's factors like the overall quality and area etc.
In your experience, how close can you negotiate with car dealers to get the trade in value that's quoted on sites like Kelley blue Book? My trade in value for the civic si i have (don't laugh :P) is not much lower than the market value. Is it a pipe dream to even think a dealership will get near that trade in value?

In Canada (I'm not sure if this applies in the states) when you trade-in a car, it's value comes off of the new car's pre-tax price so even if you get a little less for it than you would selling privately, the tax savings on the new car outweighs the increased private sale value.
you have a lot of leverage with your si. seriously, i had one too. an 00 ebp.
i totalled my car when it was 2.5 yrs old with 36k miles on it. my ins co tried to low ball me, but i fought them and ended up getting just over 16k for it.
the si's are still in high demand. especially if it's a 99 or 00. they have a rediculously high resale (and therefore, trade-in) value. just hold your ground and bring in lots of re-enforcements. bring print out's from kbb, nada, and your local dealerships. what i did was get a letter from the local honda dealer stating what they would sell (and pay) for my year model si. it helped a lot.
good luck!

Hey Vizion, that's awesome. I'm glad to hear that. I hadn't thought about the honda stuff - i definitely should get a quote from them on that.
I have the same exact Si as what you had. A 2000 Electron Blue. It's about 3.5 years old and at 40K miles so i'm definitely not abusing it. The trade in value right now for it is around 11K, but i won't be selling/trading in until around this time next year. I'd be ecstatic to get anywhere near 10K for trade in, although i'm not holding my breath. But knowing that I have some leverage based on the car (since you're right - it does still seem to be in high demand) is comforting
