Default Set them straight [rant]

I go online about once a month to compare my Z to the current sale prices of other Z of same age, milage, etc as mine.

I'm noticing that the dealer prices seem to be tied greatly to the trim level. HOWEVER, they get it wrong... A LOT!

I don't know how to set them straight, maybe an email...?

It just ticks me off to see dealer's either flat out lie or get the trim package wrong.

Buyers be warned - research the trim before buying AND compare to the vehicle you're looking at.

This is news? Who cares? If you are not smart enough to know what you are buying, then you deserve whatever you get. Also, keep in mind that there have been folks who ended up with a Track when it was being sold as an Enthusiast - good for them!

They are easily mistaken to unfamiliar dealers due to the fact that the VIN number doesn't recognize trim packages.

QFT. Actually exactly what happened to me. I knew mine was a track model but the Chrysler dealership sure didn't. Saved $2,000 from this.

All very good arguments/statements.

Just ranting that I don't like seeing it wrong, especially when it is priced per the trim.

I will now be looking for the dealer that is selling a nismo at a base price

Yeah, most internet listings for cars and houses have disclaimers that it's the customer's responsibility to make sure all information is accurate.

This is pretty common, most dealerships are completely clueless. When doing my research I found multiple ads that were wrong. Several Track or Nismo editions that were nothing more then Base cars with stickers, different rims or an aftermarket spoiler. I saw TONS of ads that listed cruise control as "standard", but they were cruise-less Base models. It got so bad I stopped reading the marketing fluff and just jumped to the pictures of the steering wheel for confirmation.

Heck this also happened when we bought our used Volvo C30... from a fancy Volvo dealership no less! It had the wrong trim listed in the ad. You would think if they sell new ones they would know the difference between two models. I'm talking obvious differences too because it effected the color of the ground effects kit, something you can see a mile away. We pointed out the error to them and they just said "whatever... its the price that matters".

Email the dealer. I promise they don't give a damn. Some dealers lie about the trim level to get more money for the lower trimmed car. What makes you think an email will make them change up their Ad? If the buyer doesn't notice, they get more business. If they do, O well, they'll give them a discount for their "honest mistake".

when i was looking at my z the dealership advertised that it was a touring model. called and confirmed this with them, got to the dealer (some 40 mins away) and it was a base model.. i should have known something was up because the price was unusually low for a touring trim, but still got to have some more negotiating room because of it

Mine was listed as a "base". Definitely a touring (heated seats, leather seats, cruise, tire PSI etc...)

That's common. Last night I ran into some dude with a 2007 z at a gas station We were talking about z's, wheels, mods, etc. He said it was an Enthusiast model and paid extra for that model, but when I had a look inside I noticed it had no steering wheel controls, no cruise control, etc...sucks.
