Default Help with my '03...

So, I have an '03 350z with about 52k miles on it now. Bought it about 2 months ago. I haven't done any mods yet as I've still been reading around and researching different things.

I'm a college student, working a part-time job that pays well enough for me to afford the car, gas, insurance, and my drinking habit lol

Here some of my plans and what I need help with.

1. Getting tints in the winter
2. Wheels to be replaced most likely in the summer
3. Been advised to get a new intake, but not sure which one would be a good fit or if I should get one at all. Yes I know intakes won't offer huge performance gain, but the little mpg advantage I do like. Also, opinions on K&N filters would be nice.
4. Plan on getting true dual exhaust when I get that kind of money together, which one not sure yet, more research to be done in that aspect, any recommendations would be cool.
5. Interior things will be ongoing, i.e shift ****, new cd player, sound system, etc..
6. Body mods, i.e side skirts, bumper, spoiler etc.. won't be happening for a while but eventually yes

Goals: For the mean time, since I don't have tons of money I want to focus on looks, but I still want to boost the performance little by little. I drive mainly to work and school so I drive a lot in traffic and such.

Basically, I'm looking for input from others as to what mods I should be looking into first. I'm not rich, but I'm not a cheap **** either. I don't want to get some shitty mods that look horrible and that I'll have to change out later. Even if a mod costs a lot, I'd rather save up and get quality then be cheap.

Hey chillah, what part of MD you from?

I just got my Z about a month ago, still trying to get it through MD inspection (for some reason they don't like my true duals)

Just a suggestion about the intake. When I first got the car it came with a AEM CAI, looked good, sounded good, but took it out for the first time in the rain and after getting back into it a few hours later, start sputtering when i gave it some gas. Some how some water was getting to the filter, I purchased the K&N 57-6013 FIPK from amazon for $200, installed it and haven't had a problem since. Not telling you not to get a CAI but just know that you run some risk if that thing sucks in some water. After reading through a lot of the forums,I would say most people prefer the stock 06 intake as the best for the money.

But the first thing I'm doing after the car passes inspection is getting it re-tinted. She looked good with 20% before I had to rip it all off for the inspection

Honestly man, enjoy your car how it is for now. I've modded every car I've owned and I learned my lesson: if you're only working part time, SLOWLY set aside money for mods. Don't blow it on something that you think looks good, your opinion of what looks good now may very well not be as good in 3 months.

You're a college student with a Z, that's plenty of bragging rights right there, save your money until you're in a good situation where it won't affect you if you spend some on mods.

stubby antenna, rear wiper delete, tint, exhaust (intake if you're heart set on it), springs & spacers, all in that order. That's what I'd do if I was starting over again!

I'm in Silver Spring area, near Rockville, College Park and Bethesda.

I've read about the water issue with CAI so it looks like if anything I'll be going with a K&N drop-in filter. Haven't seen anything about the '06 stock intake, so I'll be reading up on that very soon.

I've read the S2000 antenna is good choice for stubby antenna, but that the base doesn't fit exactly with the 350z. Comments?

I plan on taking my time but looks like I'll be focusing my resarch on good exhaust and spring & spacers, along with my interior stuff.

College Student here too. Try not to post thread like this cuz lot of the time, you'll just get "search" talk. Which makes sense since most of your questions have been discussed already.

Intake: Stillen or JWT Popcharger (notice how they're all Short Ram? *hint hint*) is most popular and gives best gain.

Exhaust: Whatever you like... Try going to the car meets with Z's in them and hear them in person. Sound clip doesn't do justice... If you don't like high pitched/stupid loud exhausts, look into Stillen or Borla (My favs). They have been shown to get most hp(Borla)/tq(Stillen) on NA engine, and sounds very deep, growling than screaming banshee.
