wait, the Z doesnt have an immobilizer? That sux. hell my $22,000 Acura RSX has one. Theres a chip in the key (just like the MB keys in gone in 60 sec) w/o the key in the ignition the engine will not turn over. the car cannot be hot wired. only way to steal it is to have a tow truck or flat bed.
Yes it does have have an immobilizer. BUt as you said that's not going to stop some #&#$@^# with a flatbed. Unless it's nailed down, there's a chance someone might take it... and even if it is nailed down, there's still risk. Plus most insurance companies give nice discounts if you have Lo-Jack. And unlike many competing systems it's supported by police not a security service, and there's no monthly subscription fee.
After my best friend had his '98 Eclipse Spyder GS-T stolen out of his carport while he was on vacation, only to be found behind a dumpster with the top down for several days NO wheels and no perpatrator found (they had to drag it onto the flatbed, and tore the crap out of the underside of the car, the pictures would make car enthusiast cry); I've been behind that gives me and my car an edge over the bad guys.

NNA did NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING> Kept making claims that they were going to stop this immediately and send out HIM AND HER to evaluate the dealerships. NEVER HAPPENED>
My Nissan buying experience SUCKED. I will honestly NEVER EVER buy a nissan again unless its from a Private seller like I did this time.

When complaints began to pile up at those levels, his franchise was revoked and he was out on the street along with about half of the employees who aided and abetted him in his unsavory business practices. Last I heard he was no longer living in Okla. because his reputation prevented him from getting any automotive managerial position in the State. His father-in-law took over the business again and his daughter divorced the crook.
If your dealership is that bad, all of you who have had bad experiences with them, should roast them in surveys and written personal complaints. Do them both, and don't pull any punches. However, do not rant and rave but lay out your evidence logically, with very straight forward instances, exactly what was done to you that was unprofessional and in violation of the preorder process. If you know people who did not participate in the preorder because they were disgusted with the dealer's shoddy tactics, have them write complaints, too. Just saying the dealer is a bad guy will not get you anything from NNA, you have to be specific and give dates, times, etc. when the dealer was trumping up extra fees and unwanted, worthless equipment to pad the price. NNA, like any large organization, looks for repeating patterns, not just individual, isolated complaints. You have to communicate your complaints by large numbers of dissatisfied consumers to be taken seriously by NNA.
Boomer--my opinion, use it or lose it, I don't care.
