Would you guys buy this 2003 track edition?
My good friend has a 2003 track edition in daytona blue with 50K on it and he's not into it anymore and wants to get rid of it for $10k.
The deal is that it needs the steering rack and steering pump replaced cause of it bottoming out on the road near his house when construction was taking place.
It hit hard enough to cause the rack to leak fluid and he bypassed the PS pump so I assume the pump is bad also.
The car was wrecked one other time about 5 years ago on the freeway when it was side swiped in the rear from a miscalculated lane change. Damaged was repaired with all factory parts.
I've driven this car a few times over the years and the tranny did not seem to have any syncro issues as far as I can tell.
It's a weird situation.
It's kinda of a unique car in that it has pretty much every option, the price is right and I know the entire history of the car from when it was bought off the lot to now.
The downsides are that the car has been wrecked a few times and the last wreck has damage that I still need to fix and for all I know the subframe could have damage that I cannot see when it bottomed out and broke the rack.
Also, the more I read about the 03-06, the more scared I get about the transmission.

Well I own a 2003 track that i have had for 6 years. If u just want a Z and it what u can afford get it but just know there may be some work that needs to be done. If I knew what I know now I would have gotten a base, but I like the track racing. For me a base with a LSD is the way to go but its all what you are into. The only thing special about the track is that is has the brake kit and Rays 18's there are a few other minor things but nothing special. If its damaged or super high like 200k or more I would not buy.

i bought a z with a salvage title ... there is no resale in cars with a bad title .... i fell in love with my car and dont ever plan on selling it .... and ill prolly never ever get back what i paid .... if i was you .. id not buy it...
Talked to my buddy more, the wreck on the freeway was all cosmetic and only required a new bumperskin, no other damage. We're going to jack it up soon so we can make sure there's no other damage other then the rack when it bottomed out. He also said he'd go down to $9500.
Tranmission was replaced at around 10k miles for 2 to 3 servo issue and he said the tranny has been flawless since.
