What would cause?
Hey everyone.
New member. I do not own a 350z, but my brother does.
Unfortunately, his 350z burned down at like 3 AM in the morning.
Can anyone tell me if this has ever happened to anyone or is there a certain recall that fixed an issue that could lead to this?
Firefighters found no evidence of arson. They are not sure what happened, so I was hoping someone would know something about this. I assumed something shorted and caused a small fire within the electronics.
Car was not on, and has not been on for a day or so.
Thanks!

doubt if car has been off for few days and wasn't on when started ... that something shorted out..unless something else touched something on the car or ..well could be a lot of things.

What do you mean insurance fraud? Like my brother burning it on purpose to get an insurance claim?
I never say no to anything, but I'm sure that wasn't the case. (The car has sentimental value-- tons of it)
Firefighters found no foul play. They said the car just went into flames- most likely from a mechanical issue.

There's been no wide spread issues with the 350Z sponotaneously combusting. That doesn't mean there's any foul play, it just means it's not a common problem.
There's 3 ways fires start on cars
You should be able to look over the car and see where the fire burned the hottest. That's usually where it started.

Did he happen to have an aftermarket radio put in recently? My sisters firebird started a fire behind the dash after a certain business put her radio in. she was driving down the highway when it started tho.

If it wasn't running, then obviously oil or gas didn't drip onto something hot and catch fire. Sounds like electrical problem of some sort - short, failure of electronics, etc.
BTW - I just love threads that start off "I'm posting for my brother". Makes me wonder, do he not know how to use the internet or a computer?

Don't expect the same answer from your (I mean your brother's) insurance company.

Happens all the time.
Maybe some guys on bikes came by and shot it up with automatic weapons, someone screamed "NOS!" and it all blew up.
Depends on the turf.
