Default Warranty?

I dropped my car off at the dealer last night because neither window drops when the doors are opened. They call me back and say that the regulators need to be adjusted and that is only covered for 12 months, NOT the 3 years like everything else. So they want to charge me 1.5 hrs for each door for labor. Is this true? He said adjustments ae only covered for 12 months. This doesnt seem right.

Ask the dealer to show you the fine print where it says that.

The dealers can charge you whatever they feel. A 30 minute job can be contracted for 1.5 hours. They usually follow a handbook on how long a job usually takes. It's b.s., but thats how mechanics and dealers make their money.

Ask the dealer to show you the fine print where it says that.
Reading the warranty easily answers this question, and in this case it shows that the dealer is correct!! The specific clause in the warranty is as follows:

Under the section "For How Long and What is Covered (in the basic warranty)" you'll find the section:

ADJUSTMENTS
Service adjustments not usually associated with the
replacement of parts, such as wheel alignment, are
covered only during the first 12 months or 12,500
miles,whichever comes first.

I would look at it this way, with the door open window in the fully closed (up) position if you push on the door closure sensor (black rubber covered push switch) and if the windows does not move up/down when this switch is pushed/released, then it's broken not simply out of adjustment. There are multiple reasons this might not be working not simply the position sensor needing to be adjusted.

If the window does move, but not the amount is should then I can almost see their claim of this being a "service adjustment".

Purchased the Honda Civic Hybrid because it rides much better than the Toyota Prius. Traded a Toyota Avalon to get the Z (mid life crisis time). Traded a Honda Odyssey to get the Toyota Sienna. Now we have one of each major japanese brand. Not part of a master plan, just worked out that way.

I wouldn't count on that, since that would be something that the car wouldn't have required otherwise. You might get the dealer to do it, though. Are you sure that the new springs you have in mind wouldn't void the warranty?

Red Panda,

His question was not really how much the dealer can charge for labor, but rather should labor even be charged, whatever the amount.

You guys are wrong, this is not a service adjustment. It is warranty related work. Take it to another dealer, have them do the work, and write Nissan.

i have 19,000 miles. My windows have been in for service 5 times since 12,000 miles. They've never charged me for it, but they haven't ever fixed it right either. to this day they still are busted.

Call NNA and get another dealer, they are obviously incompetent or just stalling. Every time you've taken it in for the windows, your car has just sat there all day because they can't/won't fix it after 12,000 miles. Nissan won't reimburse them for that work after 12,000 miles.

I just tried doing that reset thing and it didnt work. When the window got to the bottom, it would not go back up. I finally got it to by holding the reset button in and raising the window. This did not fix the problem. It still only drops like 1/16". Will this cause any problems in the future?
