My first major problem with the Z
Well I am now accustomed to the few quirky things with the 2003 Z like the grease on the windows, rattles, etc. But now the first repair has to be done. The engine and transmission are still working fine. 18,000 miles on the car and now the driver side window won’t go down. Time to buy an extended warranty.

There were lots of different levels of the extended warranty all the way down to if your wheels became dented from hitting a pothole, even if they were aftermarket, then they would be replaced! I didnt go to that extent...i just got the 75K bumper to bumper powertrain and accessories warranty for like a thousand bucks.

I never buy extended warranties. Either way, buy or not, its a gamble. I guess I prefer to keep my $$ and gamble that my car is not a lemon and with a little preventative maintenance she will last the duration I own her!!
Good luck!

Hi David,
Both my windows dont work at the moment along with the central locking and the seats.
Has yours been fixed yet? Would love to know what it is when they find your problem....

Thats the same noise that I had !!!!
That lasted a day or so and then it all stopped, thats also when I lost the seat power as well as central locking.
Dealer spent 3 days and had no idea, changed body control module and still not working. Nissan Australia are now involved. I will let you know if they find anything.
Mike
p.s. to go along with this, some $%#$head smashed my rear window and took my notebook, in a secure carpark infront of a security camera!!!!

And if it is a BRAND NEW model with a lot of high tech stuff in it!
If you want an AWESOME warranty, check out www.warrantydirect.com I got mine from them just after I picked up my car (9/02). I got the 6 year 75000 mile bumper to bumper for $775.00 This thing covers nearly everything.

A word from an unhappy customer.
I'm not sure how the dealers are in Oz, but you don't have to take it to the dealer to get warranty work done. Here in O'town I've already crossed two dealers off of my Xmas list.
Ask around, get a good mechanic, and he'll be reimbursed by the warranty company.

Exact same thing happened to my Z at around 12K miles, but mine was stuck in the down position. My dealer replaced the window motor w/o any problems under warranty. Should be the same for you. Haven't had a problem since.

I ended up getting Nissan Australia involved and now its getting sorted in the morning.
I wonder if it is the window regulator shorting out everything or something similar.
