I feel the opposite when driving the two. The Evo holds onto the corners and is more compliant. It has a more neutral feel. The Z on the other hand either has under/over steer depending on suspension and wheel/tire setup which is why it's more fun IMO.

Dikspiel is right though, Crom and Chebosto both have TT Zs and modded Evos, they would have the best comparison.

damn, didnt know a Z and an Evo was such a common combo, kinda weird, just how i know a lot of s2k owners who also own bikes...
but anywho, Whichever I chose to do, wasnt gonna be soon..it would take a few months before anything. So I dont want u guys to think i'm gonna go trade in my Z my first day on the job. But yea, I do understand the whole getting into more debt.

Ever since I got the Z I personally thought it was pretty slow, I do understand that its heavy, but anyways my last car before the Z was a 300whp civic, so yes it was a whole lot faster then what i have now. So ive been thinking since im going to start working soon, If I should trade in my Z for an Evo IX, maybe an X if i can find a good deal. Reason being, I like the way they look, they are already boosted, and there AWD, which is something I want to try out being a car enthusiast and all.
So now on to the dilemma. My friend is selling me his JWT TT set up for less than half the price its worth, He's even willing to do a payment plan with me. So now idk if I should stick with my car and TT it and later sell it down the road personally or just trade it in for an Evo.

What do u guys think?

things ive took into consideration: once i hit 100k miles i know the value drops .
Also I live in Cali, from what I see, people don't really have 8-10k in cash to buy a car personally, it seems like anyone can get a car off the dealer now a days. Plus I would assume the buyers market for a Z now a days is not really older individuals with money, and is more kids out of high school with no money. those are just my assumptions.
Honestly if I were you I would go this route instead of twin turbo. Obviously keep the Z, and since you live in LA your winters aren't too bad, well atleast no snow unless you go up in the mountains. Go for brand new engine. Personally like gm or ford motors, but I would recommend getting built block for forced induction. I just think if you go FI route, you do it right and make it most reliable you can.

Since you got the money to burn I would go engine swap. I like evos and the sti but you're limited with 4 cylinder. Now I have seen a 750hp evo but it was track car and then was transported in a trailor, so the reliability wasn't very good. I think you could get 750hp easy on 350z that would be pretty reliable with forged internals. Even 500hp is easy to obtain on 350z. But this gets me back to the engine swap. I have seen places that will do complete swap for about 12k. About the same price for turbo upgrade, well the turbo upgrade on an 04z will be a little less than 12k but you will be on stock internals. Any ways you get brand new motor with engine swap. Then just get new suspension and brakes and you car is practically new.

I'm in a somewhat similar situation myself, trying to decide if next summer I should TT my 07 350 with 18k miles or trade it in for a new 370.
Uh that is a no brainer. Turbo the 07.

I was leaning way towards that side but there are 3 things that are making it impossible to take my mind off the 370...
1. Its weight compared to my 3400 pound touring
2. Its interior
3. The 350 is evolving into the new generations civic/integra right before my eyes.

That being said I'm still in love with my car and am still leaning towards keeping it.

I think u misunderstood what I was trying to say, i'm not trying to spend 12k on a swap, and the only reason TT is an option is because I have a ridiculously good deal from my friend, and i'm able to pay him in payments for it. I know everyone always wants to be "faster" after a while, but I think i'll be content with like 400hp

well I really dont know how much power will make this car "decent" keep in mind i said "decent" im not trying to go for a 600whp Z, Only reason i said 400, was because I had a 01 civic sedan with 300whp, & it was fast, faster then your average civic on the street. I do know weight plays a big part but i figure an extra 100whp well make up for the extra weight from the civic to the Z. but eh..I'll never really know till i'm actually in it.

After reading your situation I think I'd just pay off the Z and enjoy not worrying about payments for a while.

One of the biggest reasons why I sold my 350Z to get a STi was because of this. I have seen too many ricer 350Zs (of course subject to opinions but I think all of us can agree that cheap pepboys wheels, universal short ram intakes duck taped on, and ginormous shopping cart wings from autozone are all ricer) with bunch of little kids driving this car and trying to race every car they see on the road put the nail on the coffin in selling my Z. BUT I still love the Z and I truly miss that car. It is a great car but unfortunately due to it's resale value, it has attracted many younger drivers that don't know much about the cars.

Anyways, back to your question. I would definitely suggest looking into the Evo X. Mitsubishi has definitely upped the ante on this car and made it look amazing. The feel of the car is also a lot better. I would definitely look into the Evo X if you can afford it.

Another suggestion: look into the GD STi (04-07). You can also look into the GR STi (08+) but it maybe out of your price range. The reason I decided to go to the STi was because of a similar reason quoted above, I have yet to seen a very very riced out STi (they are there but rare). Same can be said with the Evos BUT I've had a bad experience with many Evo drivers when I was at meets and as they say, you usually are who you hang out with. So that's my .02. But whatever your choice is, you will still have a nice car that you like
