Default Online Petition

Here's the link to an online petition that has been started by a user on a different forum, and we're trying to get it out to the public a little bit, and this is the first step. Here's the link, and within is why we are petitioning (tire feathering, tranny, etc...) and there is room for name, email, and comments. Please sign, or at least take a peep @ it because all of us may have the problems in the future.

http://www.petitiononline.com/350z/petition.html

Thanks.

Hate to say it, but whoever started this is taking the wrong approach. Petitiononline has thousands of petitions for pretty much anything you can think of, and about 99.99% of them are completely useless, as there is no real way to verify the validity of the names and e-mail addresses of every single person that signs these things.

If people really want to circulate a petition, then either circulate one on paper with verifiable, pertinent information from each signer, or encourage a letter writing campaign. Online petitions ain't gonna do it.

True, but even so, wouldn't you think this is a good starting point? It's gotta be better to take some action than none at all.

I agree, a letter writing campaign is really the way to go. There's not a more effective tool then filling up a persons inbox (someone who has some power within the corporation) with thousands upon thousands of letters.

If this were to be done it would need to be very specific letter, addressing problems that occur and specific courses of action that we would expect Nissan to take. The courses of action should be realistic.

I guess the first thing to do would be to figure out who actually could do something about it and then, what's their mailing address. You can't just send these things to a generic address, gotta have a name.

That's the most effective however, I doubt most people will take the time to print it out, stamp it and mail it. The second most effective would be an email campaign.

Any thoughts?

Why bother when there are more effective ways of voicing your complaints? This kind of action is about as close to 'none at all' as you can get. The 'online petition' is the lazy person's outlet for activism - almost no effort needed to participate. And the results are pretty much proportional to the amount of effort you put into it.

ROTFL well the one online petition that was created against Ashanti (singer) because she won entertainer of the year or some nonsense that she shouldnt have gotten, got HER attention, the media's attention, and thousands of petitioners signatures LoL She had a fit, and I loved it.
