I know the 350s aren't listed as highly stolen vehicles as far as stats go, but I was wondering if anyone uses any aftermarket security systems or even LoJack to protect their cars.

 

depends, some insurances give you different discounts for certain products, not no $100 alarm system though, luckily our key is the only thing to start it, and if someone has my key then they will obviously be able to bypass other alarms

One of the best ways to ‘theft proof’ your Z is to get a large ball-peen hammer and beat the hell out of every body panel including the bumpers. If you also scrape up all four wheels you won’t even need locking lug nuts. (The special socket for them will invariably go missing anyways.)

Now this may seem like an overreaction. However, more than merely discouraging theft, it will also enhance your driving enjoyment. Never again will you cringe at the sound of a little curb-rash, and fretting over the horror of parking lot dents will be a thing of the past.

Ever had the experience of some D-bag in a BMW or such challenge you at a four-way-stop intersection. Well, once Mr type-A personality catches sight of your dented up fenders, he will know you mean business, and will instantly cede the right-of-way.

Above all else, a Z is a superb ‘drivers car’, every design feature screams the fact. Just as only two seats means no wasted time loading grandma in the back. A smashed up exterior means less time fussing over paint swirls and more time on the open road.

I would not buy/own a car like a Z in a "high risk" area.

I lived in apts/condos in the past where the communal parking always attracted the vandals and thieves. When I rented my first house, none of that ish ever
happened.

 

I just moved from an apartment to a house in the hood. Although we have a gate around the driveway, you could probably still push it open if you really wanted to. Luckily, both of my door handles are broken so you have to roll down the window with the key and open it from the inside if you want to get in.

Haha I have never heard that situation before! Sounds real ghetto, but a great anti-theft feature at the same time.

OP, if you live in a nice area, you won't really have to worry about it. My car is kept in the garage every night, but the only time I worry about it is when I go into downtown Baltimore.

I bought a house with a garage, then I put a solid wood door, reinforced frame, and new locks on the side door.

 

ummm not live in the ghetto? keep it in the garage...and have a rotweiller to protect the house (too bad hes a teddy bear -___- but looks mean lol)

 

I live in apartments which thieves tried to get into my previous car I now own an 08 350z but I have LoJack and an RFID car alarm system so it's impossible for them to steal my car. And if they do let's say by towing it, my alarm system will set off because of the movement and at the same time I'll get a call from LoJack. I would just have to call the cops they'll track it and I'll get it back within hours!!!

there is no proteection from theives.

Minimize opportunities and risks, but there is no protection.

theres 2 kinds of theives, kids who break things/vandals.. and pros..

nothing you can do aside from parking safely etc to stop vandals, insurance covers the rest.

same goes for pros really.
If they want it, its gone.

my Z32 was stolen using a jiggle key, unlocked, started and driven away somehow.. stripped, washed , and left in a remote school parking lot.. again, youre only recourse is a garage and insurance.

 

I thought the NATS system on the Z's didn't allow them to be "hotwired"? It is my understanding that the only way to start our Z's is with the key.
