What is it about this that leads to so many pointless threads?

Purpose of this thread was to not derail the other thread it started on. The kid asked how to improve his gas milage and I offered a tid bit of advice if he's that concerned.

My stand was by drafting a semi I was able to obtain a higher than average MPG. I was curious what I would currently get at the point in time I got behind the semi and it read of 50 and continued to hover around -/+ 5 points of that number.

My point is in general I guess was to state that if you drive smart you can get better fuel economy.

Driving smart and drafting a semi are pretty much polar opposites. And since there was no link to the other thread, I had no idea what the point was.

Not to mention how thin we all know the paint is on the front bumper...

OP- The VQ35 is known to get 30+ mpg on the highway. Drafting, I can see where your Z could get a steady 35. I would assume, as many have already stated, that the ~50 mpg figure was more instantaneous. Nevertheless, if you're up to it, you should fill up one day, find a truck on the interstate, draft for a few hours, then fill up again and check your actual mileage.
