Default Help Spoiler issues

OK i bought my car w/o a spoiler and order one from nissan...I had my body shop put it on and it looks awesome. the spoiler came with a set off shocks so i asked why do you need these the spoiler doesnt weigh a thing. They said you need heaver duty shocks so they were also put on.......So i openmy trunk and it normaly will go up with a lil help. but now you have to push it do the top and the trunk will slowly go up( about like shocks at daytona or talladega)....so what do i do i hate this.....i llove having the button to open the trunk but hell you have to completly open it yourself............Anyone else having this problem?

Hmm. I'm a little confused by what you're asking, but I think I got the gist of it. Are you saying that your trunk open, but you have to manually lift it up, or are you saying that the trunk pops open, but you have to keep pressing the release button?

If the second option is your problem, I've read a couple threads stating that the cold weather can affect the rubber shocks, which will create an "inconvenience" when trying to open the trunk. I have this problem myself, and can only hope this fixes itself once it gets warmer.

You are not the only one to have this issue. It was a topic a few days ago........go here and read the whole thread.....lots of good ideas including removing the counter weight under the plastic in the hatch. (you don't need the counter weight now that you have a wing)

Good luck!

You are welcome FairladyZ.......I just re-read your initial post and say that you have the OEM spoiler. Usually, this one does not cause the problem you describe. (the big aftermarket wings are usually the culprits) Anyhow, removing the counter weight should be all you need to try since you say it pops open okay.
