Cars totaled after 6 years of owning it
Well just 2 short days after me and my Z's 6 year anniversary someone decided to run a redlight and hit me. The damage wasn't great but it equaled out to $8500(airbags cost a lot). And since the car is only valued at 10k they totaled it. I'm not sure if I will be getting back into a z but the chances are pretty good.

Sorry to hear -- definitely could have been worse (running a red light). Good thing you're ok!

Very unfortunate, but it's much better that impact was behind the cabin! Good luck with the next Z.
That was lucky that the cop saw the whole thing!

Dang, sorry to see that happen. Luckily it wasn't your fault though! Hope everything works out for you and that the next car you get treats you just as well.

That is exactly what makes me a bit hesitant about going too wild with mods. If some idiot runs into you it doesn't take much damage to "total" a car the age of a 350Z. My experience has been that when they total your car they aren't about to let you retrieve ANY of your aftermarket parts. So, you sink $25K+ into your now turboed Z and it gets totalled for $8500 -- even though there are still over $20K worth of good useable parts on the car!!! I think before I go into FI with mine I'm going to have to see what sort of special policies are available where I can declare a value on my toy.

That's false in most, if not all, cases. The insurance company just wants a car with all the "parts" there. It doesn't matter if it's factory or aftermarket to them for those parts. You can replace all the aftermarket items with the original parts or have the insurance company pay you a depreciated value for the aftermarket parts.

Another awesome testament to the solid build quality of the "Z". I have seen worse at low speed collisions, so lets just leave that there.
Apparently the guys filming Fast & Furious : Tokyo Drift too had a hard time squishing the bad guy's 350z due to its tank-like body.
Living in California and seeing people who should barely be allowed to breathe, let alone drive, its glad that us folks have a "Z".

Try to salvage as much as you can !!!
On the bright side, it's kinda fun starting over from time to time.... Just get as much as you can off that car before it heads off to wherever it's going... Glad you're okay...
