first day of your 350z
It was a very bitter sweet day. Bought the car without knowing how to drive stick at all so my father had to give me a ride home in it. Then came the slow and scary process of pumping myself up enough to trust myself into learning how to drive it. 30 minutes later, I was on the road. Never stalled nor rode the clutch. I feel successful now.
What I like about this thread is how honest most of you've been about how hard it was to drive a Z with its finicky clutch. It would be disingenuous to hear someone say something along the lines of "I was heel and toeing in the dealership parking lot coz that's how awesome I am!"
I didn't have trouble stalling the Z having driven beastly sticks most of my life, but I did have to be very careful with getting the most optimal clutch position to take-off from stand-still. I'm used to quirky cars. What's life without a challenge?

I'm coming up on a year in my '07. (Dec '11) Woke up early in the morning - Signed the papers and then.......Drove to Work but MAN was it a fun 20 mile drive down 59 South lol
I'm the only Z here, everyone else buys German and there is a red Zenki G35 Automatic Coupe here. By New Years everyone knew who the fastest car was.

Bought my '06 about a month ago. I drove to my buddy's house and we took it to the edge of town where there are some nice, winding roads with a few really long straights. I put the car through its paces and I was extremely satisfied with my purchase! I put about 150 miles on the car first day I had it.
i finished my transaction while at work on my break lol couldn't wait had the guy come to my work, he had all the paperwork done for me since he was an independent dealer... lets just say it was the longest rest of my shift I couldn't wait to drive my Z i had been wantig one for soo long!
no1 knew about it...i got off work and went to walmart & bought a tape adapter and a club lol I wanted to cruise and walmart 24hrs was the only store open ( I work late shifts) next day my sister tried taking my car only to find out the new 1 wasn't automatic
it was my funnest first day night cruise, i was sooo excited

I bought it for my birthday a day after a serious storm that knocked out power in various places across the state. Drove a hr and a half to meet the guy at my cousin's house. After getting it I stared at it for quite some while.Couldnt get to register it that day as DMV system was down across the state. I called my insurance and transferred it and found every neighboring windy back roads. It was quite a day.
On my way driving home the storm decide to come back with a tornado watch. That was the scariest drive home especially knowing my plates were wrong and all that.
The first week of having it, I stalled and missed gears quite a bit as it was my first stick and choosing a Z as the first MT to purchase was worlds away from my old roommate's cavalier.lol. Eventually got the hang of it and Loving every single minute I even look at her.

Bought mine in the afternoon one day from a older gentleman, who just bought a 2013 Lexus ls460 and 2013 Lincoln mkx. Guy obviously wasn't hurting for cash so I ended up getting a heck of a deal on my 06'.
Took me about the whole day to get used to the clutch, it was completely different from the manuals i've owned before. My previous car was a E36 M3 Alpine White, but the entire day I drove the Z I had the biggest grin on my face!

After I got the keys to my car the sales man asked if he could get a ride home. lol it's was about 10pm by then. I said yes. i stay out till 3am just having fun since I came from a Mazda 3 :/. Next day got pulled over merging on the hwy but thankful he didn't have a high speed because I saw him before he flicked on the rader. Verified by my radar going nuts. No ticket.
well lets say i was having alot of SPH or Smiles per hour haha. it was awesome just drove around the popular places in my city. i was happier then a pig in ****. now i still get that smile from a cold start but have since changed the exhuast set up.

Went to Manheim Orlando. Was planning to buy 99 Eclipse GSX conv. (it was in the pre-sale inventory list), turned out it was a total crap, checked other cars - one mercedes, all of the Nissan 350z's from the list, nothing in condition I wanted. Got upset but had to wait for my buddy, the car he wanted was somewhere between 300 and 350 in line ))). Started to walking through the auction lanes an saw 2000 BMW 330 with high miles but super clean, tried to bid on it but the price went skyrocket (end up selling for 7 grand, when the average price was around 5 for miles and year), next one in line - 350z! Was not on the list! Came out of nowhere! Start bidding on it, decided to not go more than certain amount, only one person fighting for it and he reached my amount, put 100$ more - he surrended! Turned out that me and my buddy got 2 cars and only one dealer license plate ))))). Flipped a coin for the plate - I got it! Drove 2 cars to Miami - my friend with passat without plates and me following ))). Had a lot of fun on Orlando turnpike that day! Got home, my girlfriend almost cried - it was her favorite car since the day one it came out and I told her I will get something for 3-4 grand )))).. All of this happened 4 years ago and I'm still enjoying my z!
