ZF has issued a recall for an oversized clutch disc sold to wholesale parts centers for the 2003-2006 Nissan 350Z and Infiniti G35. The oversized disc could lead to unintentional movement of the vehicle on startup.
2003-2006 Nissan 350Z and Infiniti G35
The Problem: The clutch pack sent by ZF to wholesale parts service centers between September 1, 2010 and March 8, 2011 contains a too-large clutch disc. The oversized disc could cause the car to move on initial startup and not use the service brakes if the emergency brake is not applied. This could potentially cause a crash or injury to someone around the vehicle.
The Fix: ZF will notify and send retailers that still have the clutch pack in inventory a new pack with a correctly-sized disc, free of charge. If any owner is not happy with their car’s performance, they can contact ZF for reimbursement for a new clutch pack and the cost of labor; owners can contact ZF at 1-800-321-0784. The recall is slated to begin this month.
Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 199 2003-2006 Nissan 350Z coupes and Infiniti G35 models equipped with the manual transmission. ZF does not quote how many of the clutch packs may still be in inventories, however.
