Should have a decent case since he sold you things that the car doesn't have. That really sucks about the heads; those are expensive as hell.

you should call him and tell him to pay up the difference or get you the build engine.. the guy clearly changed the engine to the stock one and added a cheap turbo kit to it.. and sold it as the build engine.. Im guessing he used the engine for his new car?

You bought it "as is."
The seller doesn't always know what is actually on a car. Was it a dealer or private seller? If it was a dealer, the previous owner probably just gave him a list of what was "on it." If he legitimately bait-and-switched you, it'll be hard to fight since you DID buy it "AS-IS." Could claim fraud if everything claimed is on paper. Always have a paper trail to back you up.

In the end, you can only blame yourself for not meticulously inspecting the car prior to spending a good wad of cash on it.

Buying a car with a list of modifications... go down the list one-by-one and confirm it is installed and the condition of it.

Side note... whenever I purchase a car, I inspect it to the point where the seller gets uncomfortable. If they start to express concern for me inspecting it too much, usually something is being hidden. Example, I'm looking at more GTR's. Between dealers and private sellers, I ask questions and look at it in a way that lets them know, "Hey, I know exactly what to look for."

So, let me get this straight...

"Over 60k invested"
"The car as it sits right now puts down a little over 700hp fully tuned"

With an asking price of 17k...didn't make you go "hmmmmm?"

Don't get me wrong, I understand "mods don't add value," but in the world of big boy power like 600+ rwhp you can definitely expect a higher price especially with a fully built engine with a set of cosworth stage 3 heads.

I've seen cars with the same mileage, same mods, same power (or more) going for $30k+ on this forum.

I immediately would have turned away from that ad. Sorry you got scammed, but shoulda seen that one coming man.

Good luck.

bad seller that damages the reputation of good sellers. He should die a slow and painful death while being raped. If he was at fault.

My 21 year old daughter is currently searching for an EVO (traitor, lol! ) and has looked at several that have been modded. I told her to demand receipts for any and all mods, and basic maintenance as well. I am amazed at the number of owners who can produce neither. And amazed that people would buy a used sports car without them.

^^

My guess is people dont want to do the work themselves so they look for already modded cars, which to me is retarded. You dont know how that person took care of it and even if they have receipts you dont know who did the work on the car, let this be a life lesson, that if you want things done right, do them yourself.
