Default Class action suit v. Nissan?

Anybody know anything about a group called Nissan Disadvantage? I've just gotten an e-mail (because of my job, not because I'm a Nissan owner) from them that says:

"Been burned by Nissan or their agents? We are looking for anyone who has had a bad dealing with Nissan or a local Nissan dealer. We believe many people have been taken advantage of by either or both companies. Many local dealers' agents do not have the knowledge of making a correct transaction between the consumer and the manufacturer."

They say they are planning a class action lawsuit and ask people with complaints to contact them. (I haven't included their e-mail address, because I figured I'd get flamed to a crisp.)

I have no complaint against Nissan or my dealer, and I doubt that most people here do either.

Anyone know what has brought this about?

My Dealer Dan is great. No complaints here, but there are a few people who have been anally prosecuted with their cash.

sounds like a few sue happy idiots. what exactly are they sueing over? I bet nissan will just laugh and tell them to read the fine print, where Im pretty sure they totally cover their *** from any possible law suits.

whats more, I believe most dealerships are private enterprises, not owned by nissan, sue the dealer all you want, but that aint nissan north america.

Well you never know, remember what happened to Philip Morris, the cigarette company? People sued them for making them smoke cigs cause they were addicted to it, and they made millions. What a wonderful country huh?

Cigarettes are a defective product. They produce addiction and cause lung cancer. Phillip Morris knew this but continued to market their product. I don't think you can compare this to Nissan.

Nobody put a gun to a person's head and force them to smoke. That was the choice of the smoker.

Smokers do have the choice to start smoking, but given that repetitive use can lead to cancer, I think that addiction can be (and was) a pretty good argument.

I think that case is being appealed, btw...

Firstly, cigarettes are not "defective" because they are addictive. That is called working as designed my friend.

The whole cigarette topic has become kind of off-thread at this point, but I would like to take this opportunity to say:

When I ordered my Z the end of September, I decided to kick my 10 year smoking habit because I did not want to smoke in my Z or bring the smell of it into the car. I'm 26, and it's my first sports car ever. I worked hard to earn and save the money to buy it, and I don't want to mess it up. I have followed cars ever since I was a kid and consider myself to be an auto enthusiast, although it seems like many people on these forums have much more experience than I do.... rightly so since I have only owned a sports car for 9 days now.

So to end my little zany diatribe, I have been off cigarettes completely for 6 weeks. I owe thanks to: the nicotine patch, my own sometimes lacking will power, and Nissan for coming out with this car to help motivate me.
