My GF's Z needs help
I'm new to the forums, and I can't find anything on the Z forums lol. My GF picked up her bright orange 2007 350z about a year ago. Its got 50k miles on it. I have a Lexus IS350 with over 100k miles on it. We are both putting down 306bhp, I put down more to the wheel tho. We are both auto's (mine only comes auto). My car seems like it has a LOT more pull at any RPM in any gear than her car. Everyone talks about how fast HRs are supposed to be, but I just don't see it. Keep in mind stock IS350s can do anywhere from 4.6-4.8 0-60 and LOW 13's for the 1/4. I mean 13.1 low.
Anyway, is her car supposed to feel "doggy" compared to mine?
Also, my car just gained 10-12whp from 2 mods that cost $360 total shipped. Can my GF's Z gain 10whp or anything like that for a low cost?
The real reason I am wanting to upgrade her car is because I want to whoop my friends S2K with her car because all he does is talk ****.

I'm not familiar with the Lexus specs. Some of issues with what you term as
lack of "pull" have more to do than the stated bhp.As you appear to be focused
on 0-60/drag times,I'd compare the rear end ratios of the two cars.Lexus
may have popped in some extra gear in the rear to give the IS more umph.
Whats the torque in the IS?
What was the mods that you paid 350 bucks for that gave you 10-12 whp?
A performance chip of sorts?Maybe a Turbonator(just joking lol).Are you saying
your GF's Z is bone stock? What are you willing to pay to give it more power?
$350 will do little.Budget aside, the Z is what it is.To gain power in your GF's
car, you'll need to "open it up" a bit.Mod the intakes.Install a good exhaust system
including HFC's then get a tune.Since its a 5AT,the tranny can be tweaked
to give you better shifts. To do all this, you are talking close to 3 grand to do it right.
Is this worth the effort?

The spec's for both cars are nearly identical.
Lexus is350 (2007)
306 HP SAE @ 6,400 rpm; 277 ft lb , 376 Nm @ 4,800 rpm
0-60 mph 4.8 Quarter mile 13.3
Nissan 350z (2007)
306 HP SAE @ 6,800 rpm; 268 ft lb @ 4,800 rpm
0-60 mph 5.2 Quarter mile 13.7
I don't know of an option costing $350 that provides a signifcant performance improvement.

which of these cars are automatic? both of them?
The IS350 is a 6 speed auto, whereas the 350 is a 5 speed auto.
the gear ratios for the IS350 will be closer than the Z, so the is350 will actually put more torque to the ground over time than the Z will. quicker gearing = quicker torque = quicker car.
Now as for top speed, the Z will hand the IS350 its lunch and tell it to get to steppin and go gargle. Aerodynamics play a huge role after 80mph between these two cars.

Previous to my 07 HR 350z I had an IS350. Having owned both cars I can say this about them.
The IS350 brakes better then my base 350z, suspension feels tighter stock on the IS350. Acceleration is very direct and strong but delivered smoothly. Where the IS is lacking is being a true sports car and also misses the mark being a full luxury car. Cheap interior materials and a computer that is encrypted uncrackable. Needless to say modifications for performance are extremely limited expensive and don't leave you with much gains. Because of this road block with the IS I opted for a much more pure sports car the Z. Modifications are bountiful and the car can easily be modded to out perform an IS in every category except leg room lol.
Don't get me wrong the IS is much more comfortable, but it will never live up to the Nissan heritage that years of racing have brought to the Z.
Here's some pics of both of my cars.

I never go by what manufacturers say, or else id buy the jwt popcharger that supposedly gains 10-15hp according to the mf website. I go by the dyno results from many other clublexus members. I bought a JoeZ intake for $125 shipped. 5-6rwhp on every dyno. And a tanabe axel back $235 shipped, which is proven on dynos to give 7-9hp.

I could have, but I wanted to explain where I got the numbers from for the price I stated. I'd have to drive more than 2 hours to get to a shop that has a dyno that can actually be trusted or actually know what they are doing. I live near Pittsburgh and shops suck around here.

Some of you guys are dicks tho. I'm asking these questions for help. Its not like I asked how many HPs should I expect from an electric supercharger from ebay. I just asked how the car was supposed to feel and if there was any quick/cheap fixes for a few additional hp.
