As some may know I've been shopping around for a Z and I've narrowed down to two top choices. I can't decide which car to get. One is a 07 fully loaded smb z or an 05 db base model z. Of course most people will say go for the HR but I love both colors equally. So which color you guys think smb or db. And is smb really as dark as the pictures look? Car practically looks black and I DONT want a black car. I'm seriously torn

 

I have the 05 base db and I absolutely love the color. What are your intentions with the car and that will help narrow it down a bit

 

nothing too major, the 07 already has nismo cats on it so i wouldnt have to worry about exhuast, main plans were wheels, suspension, red leather seats and possibly a side skirt kit along withca rear diffuser.. also want some contrast (black gloss roof wrap or painted) n09;10079784]I have the 05 base db and I absolutely love the color. If you love both cars equally, go for the HR.

 

SMB is not even close to black. My Z is SMB, and I love it. It's a nice color, you can't go wrong with it

I had a DB and now own an SMB. In '08, two years after selling my DB, I wanted to get another one. Unfortunately, Nissan stopped producing the DB in '07 so I had no choice but to get an SMB. I bought the car in Miami while in Germany so I didn't get to see the color in person until it got shipped and delivered. Bottom line is, I'm glad I have an SMB. It's a more "mature" color and it really is beautiful in person, especially if the car's well taken care of.

First,I just cannot understand someone asking another person for
advice on a color of a car.Maybe its just me.The color either hits
you or it does'nt.Getting that off my chest,my input(without a doubt)
would be SMB.Why?DB and other "bright" blue shades are a dime a dozen.
It seems every car manufacture offers a BLUE car for those who like blue.
There are cars and there are cars.The 350Z has a absolutely great design from
every angle.It needs no "hot" color to enhance the look.Like,would you
put catchup on a prime steak?SMB is just a fantastic color.It does not
look black at all.Some ,may call it a navy blue with a metallic.A darker blue is
hard to pull off to look rich as SMB does.If too light,it looks cheap.Too dark,
it has no presence.Also,some colors just look good on certain cars.
I wish SMB was available when I bought my 03.

100% SMB. It doesnt look black at all except late at night. In the sun the car absolutely shines. It has nice black flakes in it that really make the paint pop.

Also, it should not even be a question between an 05 & 07 man. The HR tops everything about the DE. I can only think that the DE is an option for you due to the price of the cars. You will not be disappointed with SMB, and you will absolutely regret getting a DE Z when the option of a HR one is right in front of you. Do itttttttt!!!

As NFGZ said, it doesn't look black at all. It has a great shine and is so much more mature than DB.

On top of the color, the HR is lightyears ahead of the DE. I was torn between a 05 track and 08 base until I drove both. The HR is SOOO MUCHH stronger it is rediculous.

 

You don't love both cars equally until you've owned both.

Thanks for all you input guys.. if everything checks out imma roll with the SMB. Currently getting a new clutch in the car.. dnt kno how I feel about that tho. Car only has 53k.

 

Smb because its an HR and also because DB is too common.

 

Another good point. DB Zs are a dime a dozen. In the 4 years I have had my SMB, I have seen maybe 5, including meets.
