Keep my TT supra or trade for 350z?
Hi all, this has been a debate among many, and now I'm in the same boat, trying to decide which car to get/keep.
Here's the rundown on the cars:
1) My BPU TT supra (Automatic 94)
- authentic VOLK TE-37's
- HKS parts (intake, intercooler, bov, EVC4 boost controller, boost guage)
- Tein downspring
- $3000 audio system (pretty old, however)
- 160,000 kilometers on the clock (around 100k miles)
- really really horrible paint job
- cracking on the rooftop
- following items to repair: electric seat cogs missing, front tie rod ends, crank pulley
- Overall, the car is in good mechanical shape, and makes around 380 rwhp on high boost. The paintjob is horrible, but it's a supra and makes enough horsepower for me
2) Some guy wants to trade his 2003 base model Z
- Amuse Hi-Tech ROM
- BBK
- Stock rims, stock bodykit, stock paint (white)
- CLEAN. Looks like a brand new car
- 60k miles
- 6 speed
- Tein downspring
- Test pipes, mid section gutted, Fujitsubo dual exhaust
some things to note:
- It will be a "daily driver" per say, but I only drive to work 1-2 times a week.
- I'm 33 year's old
- Just as in the States, supras are much rarer to find than 350Z
- At the same time, I want something reliable and "newer" / cleaner
- I do NOT want to spend more money tuning it up (ie I would prefer not to spend money getting the supra painted and getting the problems mentioned fixed)
What do you guys think? I know this is a Z forum but y'all sound less prejudiced than the guys over at supraforums. Would be great to hear some opinions from those who are knowledgeable, not the bench racers or people driving around in civics with fartcans
Thanx!

keep the supra and fix it please!! i used to own a rx8 and now i own a z but what i have always wanted was a mk4!! keep it man and take excellent care of it. your trading in for over 120 less whp. if your supra is beyond repair then its a toss up but my opinion is supra>Z tt or not. though the auto sucks but still man plus older toyota engines were invincible

i hate to tell u but the supraforum was rit,so u rader trade a legend for something that poeple that would compete with the legend but never made it.a supra is bulletproof compared to these z these cars can give alot of problems and besides the supra is worth double a z $$$$$ even beat up, if u wanna trade go get a corvette.alot of people have gave up on these engines and swaped motors for corvette engines or just the whole car.i would trade my z anytime for my that legend of a dream car espeacilly for the t-top supra.

Wow, thanks for the response guys, it's funny how I get the same overwhelming response even from local members.
The Z has a sentimental value as well, since I drove one in California for a year, and I still reminisce about the fun times I had and beautiful places I drove to there.
Here are a few pics of my supra:

Do you want a manual car now?
changing supras over to the v160 gets expensive
my roommate has a supra and me the Z, I used to worship his car, now its nice and I'd love to have it but a new Z is its own thing. When he gets in mine (07) he talks about how he needs a newer car.
that said, I dont know that its worth trading an 03 for, even with low miles. It'd have to be pretty damn immaculate. You're probably better off putting the effort in and selling it, then buying a Z.

Yes, I want a manual car, and I want a "newer" car.
Actually my dream car was also a supra, I had plans to go single and do the interior up like an exotic (ie. black suede leather interior with white or red stitching), and just make everything look gorgeous with moderate? power to back it up (around 450-550 whp)
But since then I have grown up, and my goals have changed where I have my priorities straight, I need to get married first and get a house before spending money on tuning up my car. I am not short on money by all means, but just realized a bit late that certain things have priorities in life

I'd gladly trade my Z for a supra any day. Mine is a 03 base, and.. Interior wise, (it's nice don't get me wrong) but its literally a "base" the luxuries aren't there. I'd keep the supra. Even if you don't fork out the money immediately to have it painted and restore it, im sure you'll want to eventually. later on down the road, you'd regret the trade. At least I would.

supras are so played out man, but that trade isn't even remotely equivalent. You'd need to get cash on top.
It was like 50K back in the 90's, way overpriced. I don't think it's ever been considered a "performance bargain" unless you tune it a bunch and have a 2nd daily driver.
