Default Ethanol = Lower gas Mileage?

I have noticed a rather significant drop in gas mileage since ethanol has been added to the gasoline mixture. I live on Long Island in New York. They have replaced MTBE, I believe that's the additive, with ethanol to cut down on polution. The drop in mileage is about 4 mpg. Has anyone else noticed this? I also believe that ethanol has been used in the Midwest for some time now. Anyone from those areas have input?

So you have 4 mpg down from what it was? Like 15 instead of 19?

Ive been using ethanol for most of the 10k on the car,and I reset the computer whenever I fillup. Most of my miles are highway and lately ive been getting between 24 27 mph.I used premium for the first couple of months, but every article I havw read says the computer will adjust to the gas you use,and aslong asyou use 87 89 octane your engine will not pre ignite. My mileage has slowly improved as Ive put on more miles on the car.Ethanol runs 89 octane in Iowa.
