might as well get a wrx or lancer evo if all you care about is racing. the z will disappoint you.

Yeah, the Z is a very balanced/neutral car, not that fast on straights, so if you really want to be fast going straight, get a STi, or Evo, or even a SRT-4, but if you're into tracking it, Z will be an awesome choice for ya!

wow 20K on top of 30K for the the car... wish i had that kinda cash. If you want to go out and race at stoplights and such just get an STI or if you have that much $$ burning a hole in your pocket just give some too less fortunate Z owners like myself

Sounds like this kid has been playing too much Gran Turismo.

$20000 on top of a $30000 car. At 17 years old. Unless mom and dad are helping out, I'm raising the BS flag here.

i agree...but if you've got 50K to spend and want a drag queen...pick up an '03 cobra. spend about $2000 more on top of the 33K or whatever you pay for it, and youre in the 11s. spend the other 18K on suspension, brakes, audio/video, etc.

if you have $$ to buy a 30k + 20k in mods, dont be a fool, instead go out and buy brand new Z06Vette

MAN im seventeen and my parents are doing pretty well but i sure as hell am not gonna spend 20,000 dollars on top of my Z.... Do you plan on going to college, u might need some money then, just maybe.... But if ur gonna live in ur car then go ahead....

I would suggest u rethink about getting this car.... i would say get a civic and put twenty thousand into that and go beat everything out there including those notorious minivans.

Im also 17 I plan on buying a Enth.(later on this year) I am going to keep it stock for a while plan on modding it little by little (paco a paco)(no Im not mexican)But as soon as I get the Z im getting some ares LED sidemarkets and going to tint the windows.after that Im doing some performance mods 1st borla exhaust followed by some crawford products. thats just the engine. If you wanna mod out the Z with 20k U shouldn't even buy a Z buy a Veete (c6). I don't want you makin my car ricey.

Guys and gals he could get 20k worth of mods he would just be paying it back for the rest of his life (Credit Cards suck if you don't know how to use them)

not all of us knew what we were talking about when we were young kids. Cut the kid some slack, and if you're gonna have a 350z in Long island without having any idea of RWD + wintertime, you're gonna have a fat repair bill. If you actually get a new 350z, good luck. I wouldn't buy a 17-year-old kid a 350z without at least 3-4 years experience behind the wheel.

i agree with whoever said to buy an evo. you're obviously into performance and you're obviously planning to mod. i would think the evo is, by far, the best car for you in that price range.

(plus it's a good winter car for a new yorker)

age+inexperience driving is a big nono. I remember when I first got my license and I only had a 150hp cavalier and the **** I got into trouble with. While it is nice to be able to have such nice cars at a young age you have to have the experience to go along with it, which also means stepping up to your friends when they want you to push it. Now that im slightly older at 23 this isnt really a problem. The only way to learn is through experience. ****, my GF who is younger than me is a very aggressive driver and while I keep telling her to slow down she doesnt listen. Well last night we had a good snowstorm and she put herself in a ditch on the edge of a pond. She was pretty upset about the situation, but none the less, it was a good learning experience good thing she
is ok.

when I just bought my car a was looking at the evo,sti,s2000, didnt like the rx8. It all comes down to personal prefference. Since I'm not really driving the car in the winter it didnt matter, stock the s2000 and 350z are basically fast enough with the option of FI down the road. The one thing that eliminated the EVO and the STI for me was they are just so damn ugly in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my Z. To me it's one of the most beautiful cars ever. But I'm not gonna kid myself - it's not the fastest thing out there in that price range.

Just to let you know, since you care about speed, the RX-8 is definitely slower than the Z (and much much slower than an evo or sti).
