Default 350z coupe or 350z roadster

So thinking of purchasing a 07 or 08 z
still deciding on whether to get the coupe or roadster ?
never owned a convertible before... so more keen on getting the roadster although the coupe seems to have a more muscular look than the roadster and how much of a difference is there between the 350z and the 370z ?

I had the same decision when I bought my 07 Z. I decided to go with the coup. I don't know where you live but I live in Florida and still decided to go with coup. I think the styling on the coup looks much better than convertible. Convertible is nice once in a while but decided that I wouldn't have the top down that much. Also there might be mechanical problems with the convertible top, rips, and other damage that could happen to it. Plus safety if you ever flipped the car could be a problem. just my two cents.

The blind spots on a roadster are also much worse than the coup. And those of you who have the coup already know how bad the blind spots are.

350 vs. 370

Unless we are talking Nismo 370z, I'd choose a 350 any day. In the 370, it has a very stiff gas pedal. Which is ok, except for the fact that the brake pedal is incredibly sensitive. I'm a firm believer that both pedals need to have the same sensitivity for comfort. The interior of the two are quite similar. Except on the 350, the plastic parts on the door seem to lose paint quickly. Of over 30 350's I've been in, only a few Didn have missing paint inside the door. Power wise, there's a difference. For DD purposes, it's not too noticeable. If you gun a 350 today, and a 370 tomorrow, you probably wouldnt tell the difference. But if you do one after the other, the 370 is noticeable faster. Also keep in mind the 370 is a lot more expensive. My last bone to pick, I can't stand the 370 transmission. Handling the shifter arm feels like there's gravel in the tranny. Except for the Nismo. The Nismo shifts so fast it's unbelievable.

Coupe.
The 350Z's original design was a coupe. The designer did a superb job of
bringing back the lines of the original 240Z.As with many other cars, the
to a roadster is hit or miss. The 350Z Roadster with the top up ruins
the lines of the car.Top down, its Ok,but not great. In addition,if you plan on
doing any mods to the body, things that work on a coupe may not look
good with the roadster. Then, you have top problems/maitenance/replacement.
The facts on the overall sales of 350&370 roadsters may offend some
of the guys that drive the Roadster. But,the sales/demographics of the Roadster
are slanted towards the female buyer.Nissan is in the business to sell cars, they
know that ladies will buy converts. These are the numbers. You may want to do
a quick&dirty survey yourself.Next time you see a Roadster,who's behind the wheel?

Not a roadster fan but I fell in love with yours at the Midwest Z Heritage show. I voted for it in the peoples choice instead of my own, lol.

I agree, that the coupe has much better lines. I think the only car out there that the convertible looks just as good as the coupe version is the Mustang.

This convertible presented well at the Midwest Z Heritage show. It was a fun show, good weather and great people to share our craziness for the Z!

Mine was the 2004.5 Silverstone coupe from Ohio with my wife in the picture.

I don't think I have liked any convertible version of any car. I think the S2000 looks good as a convertible though.

You might as well ask whether you should buy a MT or AT...or whether you should get it in Black or Blue.

It all depends upon what you want from the car.

If you like cruising down the highway on a sunny day, you can't beat the convertible. If you care about time on a race track, you will get better numbers in the more rigid coupe.

For me, there was nothing about the coupe that was better than the roadster, but the roadster offered unlimited headroom and didn't look like a knock-off Porsche when the top was down. (Yes, I'm biased )
