Ready to order, need some help
Ok Guys,
Well since august I have been trying to decide what car fits me best and tonight I decided. My first choice was the Z, and thats still what I want after looking at these cars:
S60R
WRX
RX8
GTO
MUSTANG
I want to order the exact car I want and realize that it takes 3-4 months to get one that way. Which is perfect since I will be graduating then.
Should I look out for any scams or gimmicks when I place an order? I know most place require a deposit of about 1k. Does that match up to what any of you guys payed?
At this time should I negotiate price or after it comes in? I looked online at nissanusa.com and couldn't find the car I wanted within 50 or so miles. This is what I am looking to get:
2004 Touring 350Z
Silverstone
Floor Mats
Splash Gaurds
Aluminum Kick Plates
Trunk Mat
Aerodynamics Package
I decided against the Nav since I know where I am going before I even get in my car. And after traveling alot going to school and friends houses in different states, it just doesn't seem to be something I would use.
Again any info on things to watch out for or do/don'ts, let me know.
Thanks guys,
Brad

when i ordered mine, everything is pretty straightforward. i negoatiated 1500 off msrp and the dealership paid half of the aero package for me and i got a free cargo net and wheel locks. i also had to put down a $1000 deposit(refundable if i changed my mind). thats about it.
btw, u forgot to mention what color you're getting??

based on what you are looking for:
just get a basic Touring Z with aero. Chrome wheels are a dealer option, not a factory one, and will need to be sent out. You can get everything else you want from jeff @ performance nissan ( www.performancenissanparts.com ) or courtesyparts.com , both site sponsors, and at near dealer cost.
You shouldnt need to order one, and if you look hard, you should be able to find one near invoice. I did a lot of searching and got mine for 1000 under, and it was a pre-order 2 years ago.

Hey,
Oops, i didnt mean the chrome, i copy and pasted the wrong one. anyways it's fixed now. Well the whole ordering thing is so that its ready when I am ready to grad. I have the money i just can't drive this thing at school. I wouldn't want it to get messed up. You think I should still wait?

A few things worth mentioning: Learn from my mistakes.
Get the color, model, and every SINGLE option in writing by your salesman. Do not leave out one single detail of the deal. Specifically if you are going to finance through them. Specifically: do you have to finance through them to get the price that has been negotiated. After that sign it and have the salesman sign it. Then take it to the sales manager and have him read it and sign it. I am not kidding. If I didn't love this car so much, my deal would have ended in court. My dad had a letter drafted to the attorney general that I had to convince him NOT to send.
But after you get through the bs, this car is awesome. Absolutely awesome.

Sorry, one other thing to add: Have in writing if the price changes if you order the car vs. locating one. And lastly, for a deposit I got by with 500. But try to do even lower. Say $250. It can't hurt to ask.
