Default Back from the Darkside

Hello all!

So its been a while since I posted updates to my new owner thread. I would like to say that I have learned quite a bit from trial and error with the Z33 platform. The main things I learned were 20" wheels are too big for a Z33, and a NX 150 shot trying to spin 20" wheels with 285 rubber makes driveline mounts very unhappy.

Ive come to terms that form over function completely ruins the Z33 and so I would like to share my new plan! Its slow going, work has been slow, and women are expensive! Replaced those Axis 20" bricks with OEM Rays Track Edition. 275/40/18 rear on 8.5" and 255/40/18 front on 8". So here it is...

Whats done:
TEIN
SPL
HOTCHKIS
NISMO
UPREV
PROSPORT
PLX
BERK
KINETIX
DEATSCHWERKS
AUTOMETER
CJM
EXEDY
FIDANZA
RAYS

ECT...

If you'd like details, ask!

Goals:
Block, Heads, Crank acquired, waiting to buy parts and send for machining
STS Rear Mount (Turbo to be decided)
AEM Water/Meth

12PSI for 475WHP

Looks great, tires are by no means oversized. Don't forget about some OEM Brembos, or similar, when you get some real power.

275 on a 8.5" rim would scare me.

I've heard of it being doing in AutoX classes where there is a wheel restriction but no tire restriction. Sucky turn-in, but lots of sticky afterwards.

Potentially a good drag combo, not something I would want to drive on. Still better than the boat anchors he was on before.

Yeah, the turn-in is reduced somewhat, but I have hotchkis swaybars to help compensate understeer. Overall the car is slightly less reactive but magnitudes more forgiving especially on bumps. The car doesnt vibrate anymore like it did with the stretch sidewall 255/35/20s in the front. I will never go with that type of configuration again. In fact I will pretty much always use and oversized width tire in the future.

I love the softer feeling, and I think the meaty look is much better anyway.
