Wow I cannot even explain how shocked I am that this is still civilized.
For those saying you hate the auto because it shifts when you don't want it to you must have never driven an auto Z. When I got my first Z I had just had several surgeries and couldn't drive a stick. I still refused to buy it until the salesman let me drive it like I stole it to see if it would hold a gear. I was quite surprised to see that it would hold forever and just bang off the redline until you told it to change.
Today I went for a long drive and basically drove her like I stole her. I had a blast. My S4 is terrible for heel toe shifting but Megan is different. I treated her like a ***** and she and I got along much better.
I still miss Ashley but after today I'm going to give her another chance.

The Z is my fourth car and the first manual I've driven. My last car was auto...2004 grand prix S/C garbage but it was fun. The Z is completely different though and I actually look forward to driving/commuting simply because I love her. That being said, manual for the most part is a better driving experience, but at times I do get annoyed by it. It's more fun, you get to control how you want to drive, it keeps your mind occupied on driving etc...but some things get annoying...traffic being the biggest offendor.
Don't flame OP...everyone is different. Driving manual is about the experience and he's had his. Who cares if he's tired of it? OP, do what will make you happy. I just hope you don't regret it if getting rid of the Z is what you decide on.

honestly man car is a car, no matter how much "control" you have over the car by being able to choose gears, you still have to drive the car, that being said, throttle response and driver skill makes a transmission discussion over which is better completely unneccessary. I dont think anyone here can outdrive Michael Schumacher or Ayrton Senna because they are using autos and your using a manual, especially the one on the Z.
I understand the appreciation for an automatic. I wouldn't want my Accord in a manual. It would just be annoying.
But I wouldn't want an automatic sports car. For me, the fun isn't in driving fast, but in feeling connected to your car. Having the ability to put your car in the gear you want when you want it is about connecting man and machine. No matter how good an automatic is, it cannot do that to the same level. It will never be as good.
Paddle shifters are close, but unless you have a Ferrari, they usually suck.

I agree about paddle shifters. My 8 had them(as well as tiptronic shifter) and they were pointless. Unless the revs jump and drop super quick like a Ferrari(as you mentioned) they do nothing.

LOL i guess each to their own, I just needed a car, this isnt a toy to me, but this will be my daily for a long time and i dont like shifting every five seconds in traffic (i live in la and vegas). I have fun with my car and thats all that matters to me, im young so i know i have time to buy a "real sportscar" in the near future even though my next choices dont have manual gear boxes (GT-R or 911 Turbo)
The Z is my daily driver, not my toy, toys are different, this was a point a to point b car.
LOL
