Default I miss my auto transmission

So my first Z was an 05 enthusiast with an auto that I bought with 20k miles on it. I drove the **** out of it and sold her with 127k miles two years ago. Every day I regretted selling her so a couple months ago I started looking and found an 03 6mt with 70k miles for a great price and brought her home.

Now I am not new to a manual and have driven them almost exclusively for the last 16 years but after 5k miles I find myself wishing I had gotten another auto. There was something about the auto Z that I just enjoyed. I know this sounds crazy but I may be the first person thinking of going the opposite way here.

I am debating selling her to get another auto or finding someone who wants to trade me.

Has anyone else ever felt this way? I was always a purist and chose a manual over auto but after owning both I kinda want to go back.

I can't say I relate at all, but I'm sure if you wanted to trade someone would be more than willing.

I love my 08 Silver Alloy 6MT HR as well, B

Believe me I know how crazy it sounds.

I had such an emotional connection to Ashley but for some reason I don't feel the same thing with Megan.

This is definitely a first for me.

The only time I wish I had auto was being stuck in stop and go traffic on a hill for close to an hour. Clutch was getting overheated and getting stuck on the way back up.

Default I miss my auto transmission

............said no one ever.

Wait, you're serious? I had an 04 RX8 as my first "real" car after my high school 4 door. I loved the HELL outta that car. It was different, looked good, fun to drive, hugged the road and made me feel safe in it. My step dad talked 19 y/o me into an AT though. It was always in the back of my mind. It always sort of embarrassed me and made me mad that I couldn't get a short shifter, or a heavier clutch, etc. I felt hopeless modding it after a year or two since I knew the AT couldn't be as fast as the MT with out major upgrades just to get it back EVEN with an MT 8. I made the transition to the Z in MT and pretty much every time I drive that(or even my 5spd Mazda3) I feel more manly because the MT is almost an antique.

Only way I'd drive AT again is if my left leg was gone, or I had terrible joint pain.

/coolstorybro.

I agree w/Pyshin-someone would trade you. Someone is regretting their AT choice at this VERY moment, I promise.

Good luck

I would have to be castrated to swap my 6mt Z out for a 5at car. Oh wait, that is being castrated.

Seriously, unless your handicapped, why would you want an auto sportscar.

I wish to be re-castrated within a year or 2. Getting a manual swap soon as I get my finances sorted out. Better than an A/T FI.

Funny how some people prefer to have an AT. Buying an AT Z is the worst decision I made in my entire life. I just could not hold my excitement at that time. LOL

Premature Zjaculation?

I know that feel bro.

I Zjaculated a lil early when I bought my Z. It was a base and I should have held out for a year or two and got a Nismo. At the time I didn't think Nismos were in my price range. But it IS MT and I got the color I wanted which was my top priority next to price.

Are you sure it's actually the auto part that you miss? Sounds like you were just attached to your first Z. My bet is that you will get another auto and be disappointed still.

I honestly don't see the big deal with manual transmission. I drive an auto z but drove stick before. If u don't plan on drifting, doing burnouts or speeding at the track/off road course, seems like more of a pain in the rear. Unless those activities are done illegally on the public road. But to each our own. Day to day, most of us don't drive above 3000 rpms. Driving stick for me got old. It's nothing special.

LOL LOL

There are drivers. People who actually know how to drive and see the road as a line, regardless of being on a track or just the street.

Then there is everyone else behind a steering wheel. <--- this is where YOU fit in.

enjoy your auto Z, in the slow lane. Please stay out of the fast lane.

While I am in the slow lane, be sure to save money for your shiny speeding ticket in the fast lane.

I too was an early Zjaculator. The first Z I bought was an 04 Roadster (luckily a 6 spd). It was great during the summer, but I always regretted that ugly ragtop and the fact that I paid so much for an 04 when I could have had an HR coupe for the same price. I'm glad I didn't test drive an auto or I may have ended up with it! After 6 months I traded it for an 07 coupe and was much happier.

lolololol

I can't stand an automatic unless it has a manual valve body in it.

I like to be in control of my car and I want it to do what I tell it to do. Automatics downshift needlessly, downshift too far just to come back up a gear when you floor it so you look retarded, cant figure out what is going on etc...

Gets kinda tricky when you are trying to turn a corner, talk on your cell phone, eat a burger, smoke a cig and upshift all at the same time, but it can be done.

I think you've hit the nail on the head here. It's not that I'm disappointed but more so that I had so many memories in the first Z and haven't had a chance to build that emotional attachment to this one.

As I said in the op this isn't my first rodeo. I've been driving manual cars for damn near 17 years and have ALWAYS said for a sports car manual is the way to go.

Both Z's are black and I've used the same work emotion cr Kai wheels on them. The only difference is the trans. Maybe I just need to change up the wheels or something to set the new Z apart and make it different.

Put a turbo and exhaust on Megan. You'll forget all about Ashley.

You got an older girl, she just needs a boob job.
