I have been browsing the 350z forums for a little bit. I am so so so close to ordering a 350z, but i am discouraged because i am reading that some people are having problems with their car, and this is a brand new car, there shouldent be any problems. I hear about trandmision whine, what the hell is that? I am hearing about engine shut off's??? Why!!! What is head light condensation???
Thanks!
Thanks!
Dude, this stuff DOES happen in new cars. Any product that is newly released has a higher chance of bugs, errors than one that has been around for a while. I don't think any of the problems are too major so far, but if there are problems they should be gone by the next model year.

You have no idea how minor these "problems" are from reading these messages. Any car put under a microscope like this will reveal similar things. We have waited for months for this car and are analyzing every move, every sound, and reporting all of it, real and imagined, just for the fun of it. Don't worry: it's a truly great car!
The only thing that sounds like it might be a real problem (and I don't know first-hand since I have the base stereo) is the Bose stereo and its crazy auto-volume control.

remember...someone is most likely to post if they have a problem. Everyone else is hanging out in their Z far away from a computer. Sure there have been flukes in the car, but it appears to be a problem on only a percentage of cars.

I have got 1700 miles on mine and the car is rock solid. All cars have problems here and there. As someone stated in a post above, people come here and post when they have a problem and need help. Or when they want to complain about something. Not nearly as many people start a thread to talk about the fact that they are not having in problems. Honestly, I am a little surprised that we are seeing so few problems.

ok, but what does all of the things i listed above mean. light condensation? Oh and also, some of the problems arent minor. Engine shut off's! That not minor.

As for the engine shutting off, ONE PERSON had this happen, and since his check engine light came on, many suspect it was due to a loose gas cap. AFAIK there have been no problems since.
My car has been perfect except for a minor rattle that will be fixed under warranty. My last new car (a Mercedes) also had a few little things like this that had to be taken care of. This is normal for a new car (well, except maybe for Honda
). Don't sweat it!
762 miles and no problems, other than the usual complaints about the Bose.
I washed my car the day I picked it up and noticed condensation in the head lights. I had not turned on the lights up to that point. I have washed the car four times since then and the condensation has not returned.

I forget who said it (sory) but the reason for the ONE reported engine shut down is because we, being the enthusiast were are, took the break-in to heart and really babied the car. Then once that 1200 mile mark was hit, Internetabyss really nailed it and the engine wasn't use to this it"whent into shock". Someones mechanic said this and that it happens to Porsches as well. Just make sure you ease the engine into operation for the first 1000 miles like an old man into a hot bath. Then you can have all the fun you want.

Hah please don't compare the 350Z to an old man!
I think my car has had the most problems. I now have 3 rattles (these were before my stereo install, 2 have now gone away after the interior was ripped apart and put together), and recently I have had gas vapor fumes inside my cabin along with a check engine light which hasn't gone off after turning my car on and off over 10 times now... I'm assuming something is actually wrong, will bring my car to the dealer this Tuesday...
