Haha I'm glad I could make you laugh.

I have no idea why Subaru uses timing belts. You have to replace it normally at 60k and 105k. We have a timing chain, and will never incur those costs. I've seen many legacy gt and wrx owners miss timing and slip belts then need a rebuild.

It varies depending on the owner but turbo doesbt spool up until higher in the rpm band. They are slow until the turbo hits. Even from the factory they are running lean to pass state emissions.

17lbs though? I would think that would at least keep up with an HR.

How much do they run off the assembly line?

If anyone wants to know the joys of a WRX google Subaru WRX Ringland Issues.

It's a well-known and well documented issue with Subaru, especially if you've ever owned and/or modded one.

well I was looking into the newer generation but I think they run 12-14 stock boost from the factory.

In 2008-2009 they had huge issues with the engines where a brand new one with under 10k would need a engine replacement.

Exactly. It's just like the head gasket issue with the earlier 2.5l boxer engines. Subaru acknowledges the design issue and only have owners a "coolant conditioner" to put in.

I peter owned a 2000 2.5rs and parted it out because the engine went due to a blown head gasket.

Not only was it a design failure but it's also, as someone said earlier, exponentiated due to the stock tune being so lean. People could literally drive it hard enough long enough in stock form and it would go boom. Compression would be crap, obvious loss of engine power would be symptomatic.
