Default Car Shopping

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this forum since I have only owned domestic cars (3 different LS1 Trans Ams and currently a Mustang GT). I am looking to buy a car in the next 3 months and would like some opinions on which one you guys would buy if you had a chance to buy one.

Blue 350Z
Grey G35
Silver RX8

Thanks,
Colin

Depends on your priorities. First I personally don't trust the Rx8s mechanicals. The Rx7 (last gen) was hardly a reliable car...and Rx8 owners seemed to be having a lot of motor probs last I checked. Plus there's the whole buy-back thing that will further hurt the Rx8s appeal. Too bad, b/c it's actually a pretty nice sports sedan. (note I said sedan).

The G35 is a great car as well, probably the best choice if you are married and have kids and need a daily driver. It's exterior is pretty nice, but it's definitely a sleeper car. The G35 has the brembo brakes which are awesome, but their advantage over stock Z or Rx8 brakes is probably negated by the car's excess weight. Other than that the G35 is a softer, less sporty, less radical version of the Z. What it lacks in sport it makes up in luxury, with a silghtly smoother ride - mind you it's still not BMW/benz smooth by any means.

The Z is the sportiest car of the bunch. You sit lowest, it has the least body roll, the firmest ride. The Z is a great daily driver if you're single, and I'd say it's the closest to the other cars you described.

As for reliability, I think the G and Z will be the same in the long run...they share most of their parts.

if it were up to me (and it was at one point), I'd go for the Z. If you're buying a sports car, why make so many compromises? The Z is fine for the day to day grind, and amazing when you need to go on a high speed romp.

After seeing some of the things posted on the RX8 boards I am definitely gonna pass on the Mazda.

This G35C vs 350Z is really causing me some mental grief cause I definitely like the 4 seats and the back taillights of the G35C but the front of the 350Z and its power to weight advantage. I am leaning towards the 350Z right now.
