+1. The sensors take several miles to give a reading to the ECU of whether they are "ready" or "failed". In the meantime, any state inspection machine would identify them in a "not ready" state, which means they haven't registered yet. I have a bad cat on my Nissan Frontier. It takes a good 2-3 days of solid driving before it registers a "failed" condition and makes the check engine light illuminate. Stick around young padawan, you'll learn some good info from us old OG car guys...

i dont know any of these cats. there is way more lurkers than the handfuls that post.i stayed in the dark for bout 2-3 years before i ever really started posting. but i also know how to turn a wrench....but the z is a whole different animal compared to the cars i worked on before.
you start small, with like a plenum spacer and oil changes. next thing you know you got piston ashtrays.
But yet ill get destroyed by a STI or a turbo 06 civic. Ugh.
Should have got an HR Z, you wont have that problem.
