Today was the day ...
After being a member of this forum for over a year, I took delivery of my 04 Superblack Performance. Put about 75 miles on her since I picked it up (had 6 miles).
A few questions tho:
- There is a funny smell coming from the foreward engine area... doesnt smell bad, but doesnt smell too normal. I know its normal break-in smell, but I just wanna make sure its not me burning the clutch. Anyone know what it would smell like if I was burning the clutch??
-I have to do quite a bit of highway driving in the next day or so (approx 200 miles). Any suggestions break-in wise? Also, the dealer suggested 2000 miles for break in... any thoughts?
-Anone have the seatback organizer?? How in the hell do you install it?? I cant figure it out for the life of me - too far down and the pass seat release is obstructed, too far up and same happens.
Anyways, just thought I'd share the news! Take care...

The funny smell is normal mine last for about 200 miles
as for your trip, take her easy, don't go past 60 mph, and enjoy every minute of it, i love long trips in the Z on the open road... If you really want to go crazy I would also maybe stop to let her cool down a little, say for like 30 minutes
The seat organizer, you have to remove the head rest, put the loops over the holes, reinstall the headrest, and then place the bottom flap in the pocket on the back bottom of the seat, took me 2.5 seconds to do
..
Congrads on the Z and enjoy.. be sure to order some Zaino if you have a SB, your going to need it

Yeah I had it to 70 on the way back from the dealer, it was like 2500 or so... Oh well, too late now i suppose. So far, i only stalled it once, on a wet rainy hill in nyc traffic... i was a bit nervous and i F'ed up the takeoff. But ive been gettin better little by little, just trying to make the shifts as smooth as possible.
Thanks for all the responses - she is now sleeping, all safe and sound in a huuuugggeee parking lot in a corner spot
Just made the trip from NYC to NH in miserable weather (I know, I know - but I had to), mist, light rain, no snow until I reached my destination. Then about 1/2" of scattered slush. Which I got stuck in. Had to back out the area I was in just to get out (I stopped to unload my stuff in front of my house).
The rain part wasnt bad, but you guys sure weren't kidding about the snow. They must not get much of the white stuff in Japan...
Anyways, Im off to bed, ciao!
