Default Considering the Z, thoughts please

I'm considering swapping my 03 Cobra for a new 04 350Z. I love the styling and the car overall. Of course there is a big power difference, but I think over time the aftermarket will at least offer good streetable 11 second power which is were my Cobra is now. Basically I would like to if there are any problems that I need to know about or any other thoughts or concerns. I have driven both a auto and standard, and I feel I will stay with the standard. To me the car lost it's sport feel with the auto.

Also while test driving the car there was a light that came on. It looked like a u with a crinkly bottom and exclamation point in the middle. I was told that it was the tire pressure, can anyone confirm this?
Thanks Mike

right...

not sure what he's talking about.

but I will say, if you want streetable 11s, dont buy a Z. your looking at a turbo or SC along with nitrous to get anywhere near them. keep your SC V8 to get down the quarter mile. the Z is fun for a casual drag race, but generally a poor platform for straight lines only. its just not the cars intention or specialty.

I know of 1 11sec Z. and I beleive he had like a 300shot and slicks(theres a nice vid of his engine blowing up too). not sure if he even hit 11s or just 12s. 12secZ is more up to date on faster times than I am though. I just know there arent many.

We'll your cobra sounds pretty awesome. The Z is a great car and fun to drive. There are a lot of awesome people that drive them too. So it makes it even better. I've never had a problem with the Z, I guess I'm just lucky to say that. Adding mods is endless; there is an abundant amount of aftermarket parts and with great power potential. Overall and I love it.

Thanks for the comments. I basically ment there are performance products out there that could yeild those 1/4 mile times. The twin turbo kit with a low compression motor should get there easily, but thats beside the point. I'm just looking for any good or bad things that I may need to concern myself with. I'll have to make a decision in a day or two.
Thanks Mike

03s did have some issues for some folks. I have seen few issues with the 04s.

If you understand the issues surrounding getting into the 11s & the Z floats your boat go for it.

if you plan to spend enough to make an 11sec or 12sec z, you could just buy an 04 corvette. i heard they can be had for under invoice.. so under 40k.

that is the tire pressure monitor light on the dash. Your tire pressure was low on the z that you drove. Typically in colder tempatures the tires tend to deflate somewhat.

I went looking for a car last year and narrowed it down to the 03 Cobra and the Z. My last vehicle before the z was a 00 Mustang GT. I elected to go with the Z because of price/depreciation value - the Cobra will drop in price more substantially then the Z.

While I can only imagine what a Cobra will do - never test drove it - you won't get a better car for the money (the Z) that makes you feel like you're literally tied to the road enjoying every minute of the ride, smiling uncontrollably at times.

Smile New Z - Eats Tires

Dude

It's a great car, but the problems that go with it are just not justified. Get a good car, and concentrate on your career and education.

Besides it would be competition with your Wife/Girlfriend

Hell I say go for the Z. it's a blast to drive and the mod scene is getting bigger by the day. I wouldnt be stuck on a number. The Z is more than that. Besides you can Mod the
sh#$%T out of it. I've had no issues worth mentioning.
Good Luck.

Why the change from the 03 cobra to the Z? I went through a similar change, I went from a heads/cam 02 WS6 TA to the Z. I couldnt be happier, and I havent really missed that car, the TA, like I thought I would.

Oh if your single, you wont be for very long. Not that I can enjoy it cause I had a g/f b4 I bought the Z.
