I drove a 350Z in the snow for 7 years, it can be done and is safer (if VDC) than most cars as long as you have really good snow tires. I never got stuck once, would drive 70-80mph comfortably in light snow, never spin out, etc. That being said I am done with that life. Get a DD, its cheaper than buying 2 sets of tires every 2 years.

I'm in Ontario and I'm driving a manual 2005 350z. This is my first winter with the car (and second winter driving on snow), but I can tell it performed far better than I expected when we got snow earlier this month. I didn't get heavy snow yet, but for light-medium snow I got I can tell I felt it pretty stable in the city and highways. Sometimes when you launch the car or when you break too hard the TCS will kick in, but this would happen with every other car. You just need to drive smoothly.

I still need to drive more on snow, but I felt safer driving my 350z than a friend's Civic 2006 AT (with winter tires).

Oh.. I'm using Toyo winter tires on the OEM 18" wheels.

I am in Minneapolis MN. The annual average snowfall here is about 50 inches. It is very cold averaging 156 days with below freezing temperatures, and commonly 15 of more days below zero degrees Fahrenheit ( minus 17.7 degrees Celsius). I bought a 350z in 2003 and drive the car all Winter. I have not had any trouble, but I do have a dedicated set of wheels/snow tires for Winter driving. I have tried A/S tires on the 350z in Winter, and the experiment was not successful. You need true snow tires.

It can be done with very good tires. Just remember to turn off TCS/VDC from a stop or the car will not go anywhere.

I never did, if you have good tires it will grip. In the event that it didn't I took off in 2nd, gotta let the VDC do it's job.

I don't know about all this talk about "good tires". If you're going to drive a Z33 in the snow you need SNOW tires, Period. End of story.

In Colorado we get plenty of snow and I leave the Z in the garage because even with snow tires, I don't like it being exposed to all the de-icers, dirt and junk on a snowy road. There's also the chance that someone with all-season tires can't stop or turn and ends up taking out my Z. If you're forced to drive the Z in the snow, that's the only reason to do it IMHO.

I said good tires because not all are equal, better winter tires are better than the bottom rated ones if that made sense. I also never used "snow" tires I used performance winter tires exclusively, and that's here in Chicago winters which can be harsh. There was hardly a day I didn't hit triple digit speeds and snow tires can't do that safely.
