Default buying a salvage title or clean title for track

Hey guys,

I was a member here a while but the Z is gone now. however i want to get a z for track purpose only.

I wanted to buy a salvaged or rebuilt title with straight frame. I am planning to tear everything down and custom built everything back up. when i said custom built i meant everything from seat interior to suspension and engine. Wanting to put ls3 in

The way i see is that i only need the frame and i am only using it for track so it does not matter if it is clean or salvaged title. And going this route will save me tons of money for parts.

What you guys think?

Nothing wrong with what you said.

As long as you know what you are getting yourself into then you should be fine.

Yeah no sense in buying a clean title if you are going to go that route with it.

My daily driver 350z is salvage title. My pops and I bought it wrecked and fixed it up from the grave. He has made a habit of doing this and he has sold 10+ cars to private parties over the years. When they see how good of a job he/we did and how well we take care of them, they normally dont hesitate much on their purchase. I would say it only brings the resale value down a grand or two, tops.

That being said, if this will just be a track car for you, hell yea, nothing to lose on salvage.

the hell with wrecked z at auction going for 5k?

i have been trying to get a wrecked z and i cannot believe how much people are willing to pay for a wrecked z. for instance, 2006 z with rear end on coparts.com was sold for 5.6k. I m not talking about slight rear ended. I am talking about pushed in rear bumper enforcer and quarter panel damaged. I thought it would be around 3k or less since it is wrecked but people apparently paying around 5k for a wrecked Z. this is so crazy!!! anyways if anyone have a better auction site please let me know. I m not willing to pay that much for a wrecked Z. I could buy a clean tittle Z for around 6-7k like 03 and then strip it down for parts!!! i would end up paying cheaper than a wrecked for 5k!!!!!!

A buddy of my told me to get the car fix in mexico which is way cheaper. I am not talking about TJ. i am talking about further down where tourists dont come!!! what you guys think? They said they do anything from body to painting and it would cost less than 2k for any body damaged and whole car painting to any colors. Should i trust him? i meant he is a great friend but i am not sure i have that much faith in Mexican repair shops. i have not have any luck with shop around TJ

hey, have you found a car already? I was looking for a salvage myself, but with minimum repairs, and I saw a really nice one on copart. I could send you a link if you''ll like

hey, guys
i realize this is not the right thread, but I just wanted to know your opinion
i found this car at an auction, the only damage is this side damage, the mechanics is fine, the odometer's decent too
now the website says it's repair cost will be $9,789, but that seems to much to me.
Can you take a look and draw an approximate plan of repairs?

well, that's the whole point of my question, i think the price's too high, and the actual costs could be lower, esp if you do this in mexico or i can do some of the stuff myself

bro. that is way too much to fix man. i think to fix that you have to saw off the quarter panel and weld on a new one. i i dont like to mess with welding. but i think it would cost around 4k to fix that. and i believe with the cost of the car and the repair it would amount to 9-10k!!! i think i will look for a cheap car on craigslist with mechanical problem.

Killswitch- you should start a new thread if you want more responses to this. That picture only shows part of the damage and the list of parts needed to repair that Z will be extensive. Unless you work in a body shop, you'll want to look elsewhere...
