Fuel smell in engine bay
Hi guys,
I need a little help as I have a drift event this weekend and there is a slight smell of gas in my engine bay. It is more prominent on the passenger side, and it is coming from under or right behind the throttle body per my nose.
My car is a 2008 350z with 90k miles. It has kn filters testpipes and Greddy exhaust as the only engine mods. I have driven almost every car I have owned with TP or DP, so I know that they smell a bit. This is a FUEL smell that is prominent IN the engine bay.
I have a few questions:
1. Has anyone ever had a fuel smell from this area and can you tell me what you did to fix it? I am thinking leaking injector or line, but when I turned the car on to prime, no fuel was present.
2. If an injector O-ring was not sealing properly and spraying fuel incorrectly, would I get a cel for a misfire on that cyl? I would think yes, but so far I dont have any.
Any help would be appreciated

You make want to check the fuel dampers at the end of the fuel rails. There are orings there that may need some attention. Also check fuel lines for crack even though that is not typical of our z's.

I can't speak to the HR but the DE has the vapor recovery line with valve and cap on the passenger side near the firewall and battery box along with the fuel supply line which attaches to the rail with an O ring's fitting a the fpr. Assuming they are the same I'd have a look at that fpr where the line attaches and at the vapor recovery valve.

Not always true.
It would be extremely rare for the schrader valve on the evap port to leak unless it was recently checked but always possible. If it is from the evap, I would be more apt to trace back from the service port down near the exhuast manifold and see if the line came out of the retainer bracket and melted on the exhuast.
