to all of you that are placing the amps in the glove box behind the passenger seat, arent you worried about the heat. i havent been into car stereos in a while, but it would seem like that they would overheat in such a confined space. are they cooled from within these days?

Default Head Unit

A few questions:

Did you use a wiring harness when you installed the stereo?

Did you make the kit yourself to cover the double din opening?

How hard was it to run the remote and RCA cables from the amp to the head unit?

How and where did you run the power cable on the amp to?

Is anything rattling or is everyhtin still snug and rattle free in the car?

Hmm, I would think you would have heat issues, not to mention, it takes up some useful space.

Why didn't you put the amp below the glovebox rather than in it..?

Sorry to say, I agree!

That's gonna kill the resale value unless you kept the original.

I think you should install the head unit on the lower part of the custom plate. Also, if you can put carbon fiber or aluminum trim on it, it would be nice..

Haha..
Yes. I REALLY dont like the black plastic thingamagig look. Thats why I'm doing the carbon fiber for whole center console.
As for all the work. I'm doing them all.
First of all, the double din. Its bigger then double din. Plus its curved both ways. (up & down, Left & right ) So its really hard to get a exact fit. This platic part is my second try.

And here is my defending part.
My head unit? being sony.. hmmm.. I really dont like the sony either. I rather go with alpines as well. But this sony unit really caught my eyes. I like em. Besides, they threw in the 3 year service plan, where they replace the unit if it breaks or something, for free... cuz I bought the amps & wires & head unit... etc etc.

Location of the amps? It's a nice cool place. Away from the engine. In shades. Most of car stereo is making ~20 watts rms. Its sits in close hot place. And nobody seems to care about that. At max, I'll be using 35 watts per channel out of my speakers. I dont have the woofer yet, so I dont have to think about drainning too much power. The amp that will drive the woofers will be located some place else.. I still dont know where. If my amps over heat for what I do? then Alpine amps are piece of sh. Besides, which part of our car is NOT confined?

Storage place? I dont need em. I got a another car for putting in junks.

Seriously forks. Your amp over heating is over rated. For competition level, I might have issue. For everyday use, it should be no problem.

Did you use a wiring harness when you installed the stereo?
Yes.
Did you make the kit yourself to cover the double din opening? Yes.
How hard was it to run the remote and RCA cables from the amp to the head unit? Really easy once you have dash console opened. Center console is being hold by only three screws.
How and where did you run the power cable on the amp to? Straight from the battery.
Is anything rattling or is everyhtin still snug and rattle free in the car? You kidding? Thats why "I" install em.

one more. black frame thing generaly dont fit for nissan and toyota cars. For 350z, because of the curves, it def. dont fit.

I'm interested to see how that looks. I'm thinking about taking the Alpine 7995 and using brushed aluminum to fill the gap. This would make it so both the HU and the console matched the car's aluminum accents.

Oh yeah, and mounting the radio low so that it's easy to reach while shifting.

But carbon fiber is a neat idea...

Don't let people discourage you, that's a sweet headunit congrats. I heard it at a local stereo shop and it sounds very clean.
