Default Car noob here

K so just got my car out for the first time from winter and all of a sudden I no noticed that my shifter *** is sideways is that normal? Tbh it looks kinda cool but should I be concernd about it?

Totally normal. Usually happens in November, but it depends on your latitude.

It's the Coriolis effect, google it. South of the equator, the **** will be turned in the opposite direction. You can minimize the effect by precalibrating the shift **** based on the difference between true north and magnetic north at your latitude.

Exactly right. This phenomenon affects essentially all metal materials. Since most metallic structures we are familiar with in day-to-day life are under constant cyclic loading the effect is not noticeable. When metal objects sit for extended periods of time, however, the effect can be seen. As dcains said the effect is reversed south of the equator (see figure below).



Interestingly, long range shooters also have to take this effect into account since the projectiles they are using at metallic and they are traveling over such (relatively) great distances unrestrained.

this happened to me once. Get it fixed ASAP, mine went to far to the left once and made my manual transmission turn into an auto.
