New owner of 2006 350z Roadster GT
Hey guys I just bought a 2006 Nissan 350z Roadster GT 6MT convertible of course, with 27,640 miles!!. Now I know a good amount of 06 Nissan 350z's were affected with the oil consumption problem (MT TRANS), and I was wondering if all of the 06 Rev Up 350z's were affected. Secondly I drove it for a few days and I know I drove it more than the original owner in the two days this spring so far because he had it covered and sat in his driveway for a good amount of the fall / winter only taking it out a few times thats all. So after i filled her up with gas one night drove her home. The next day I take her for a decent drive and the service engine soon light came on giving me the code P0171 Bank 1 system running too lean. I think this may have to do with some of the dirty gas getting through and tripping the sensors with dirty fuel injectors possible? Im going to clean the MAF sensor and throw techron in with a full tank of gas and see where it takes me from there. I need tips and suggestions as a new owner and need help on being preventative as to the chance of having an oil burner. Thanks guys!

If you have an oil burner you have an pil burner. No way around it.
My advice is to check the oil level every 100 miles until your first pil change. If theres a change in level, you got a burner.
As far as the code goes, could be alot of things. Maf, throttle body, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel line, bad gas. Who knows, start hunting.
Other than that, sounds like a nice pick up. And post pic

I've also heard fuel additives don't play very well in the Z, although I've never tried them myself (for that reason). I would look into other possible causes before going that route. I personally recommend the 93 octane from Shell, but I know everyone has their station preference.

I think your MAF is most likely dirty. Try cleaning that then resetting the code if you have a device that can do that. If it comes back on then it's something other than you MAF.

Drive it with good gas, do not spray the MAF or try clean the TB. Give it a couple weeks and see if it fixes itself with actually seeing some miles

Yeah im purchasing a obd scanner this Friday, the car is sitting at home for the week while I finish up with school. The low miles part is great but driving it more than it has been driven before is making the car ache a little and start to wake up so shes just getting use to being driven well. I hate putting miles on it since it has such low miles lmaoo.

This is what I use in with my fuel and oil: http://www.marvelmysteryoil.com
I am pretty consistent using it when getting fuel but a little less with oil changes, probably every 3-4. The first few times that I used it in a oil change I was nervous and started with 1/2 quart substitution and built up to the full quart.
I don't have any data or tests but I definitely get better fuel mileage and at 6-6500 miles when I do an oil change the oil doesn't seem as broken down as it was before I started adding Marvel. Between this and using 93 when you can find it should improve your issues

Where could i check when the car was manufactured? I looked at the 9th and 10th digit of the vin and it is "86". 6 being 2006 would the 8 mean August or the digits following the 6 which is "M4"
