Question The A/C Light

What is the deal with this light? Everytime I turn on the fan function, the light turns on, does this means A/C turns on automatically everytime?

I am confused the manual isn't descriptive enough, though they go on for pages to explain the seat belt..over and over and over for pages and pages and pages...

Seemed odd to me as well. To turn it off every time we turn the fan on seems weird. Maybe, we're doing something wrong....

I am just trying to figure out if the A/C automatically turns on everytime I turn on the air control flow, if so that is stupid

There have been numerous threads on this issue. The finding was that although the AC light is ON, the compressor does NOT run unless the temperature gets warmer than what is set on the dial.

Think of it the same as your central air at the office. Keep it set at 72. If it gets hotter, the AC goes on, colder and the heater runs.

I donno my 04 i usually leave set to auto, this way all the climate control rests in the center ****, the closest to the shifter.. and when i move the dial to auto, that ac light comes on, and i def hear something turn over, and start under the hood, sounds like a compressor, or something.. i donno looks to me as if it turns on, so all i do is hit the button and turn it off, sorta became a habbit

Same here. But I just got used to pressing the AC off when ever I turn on the fan/heater. I do hate that its not possible to turn the AC off when the fan is set at cycling, only can when it set at venting. Weird....

Thats done from the stand point of if the the air is recycled it will gain moisture, and fog the car up, so if your going to cycle the air, by having the AC on ,it will remove the moisture from the air.. its sorta a safe guard against fogging but annoying none the less, i can do it in my maxima and wish i could do it in the Z
