Default 2006 350Z Auto Shifter stuck in Park

Hello All,
Just purchased a 2006 350z Touring with a problem with the auto shifter that is stuck in Park. Had to use the shift unlock every time, I have done some research on the cause and it points out to be the shifter solenoid (part number 34970-EB30A). Has anyone replaced just the solenoid? I called two dealers and quoted me $900-1000, found a few pictures online and it seems like the solenoid "can" be replaced.

Help is greatly appreciated.

That was my thought and it looks like the entire shifter assembly needs to come out to be able to replace the solenoid. If so, it would only cost $40+ plus my labor, it beats the $900+ quoted by the stealerships!!!

Default Automatic shifter fixed

Good news!!!
I was able to replace the shifter solenoid after removing the entire shifter assembly. There is no way you can do it without taking it apart, unfortunately, I have not taken pictures of every step but it is certainly repairable.

Total time: 2 hours

Saved me $900!!!

Great job . Any difficult parts or things you might wish you had known before?

As far as needed tools or parts, I didn't need any but need to be careful removing the small switch actuator on the back of the solenoid assembly, one of the plastic latches broke off but it would still allow me to install it back.
To remove the solenoid itself, I had to remove the assembly that attaches to the brake switch connector. There is a tension spring secured by a metal washer, not a big deal and once that assembly is out of the way you can pry out the solenoid.
Test the new solenoid while is still not fully reassembled, mine worked the first time.
Bottom line, the stealerships are full of crap when they tell you the entire shifter assembly needs replacement when a $50 part is the culprit.
