I was able to reach the top transmission bell housing bolts using my huge Tekton 1/2" torque wrench. The handle just barely cleared the firewall and hood, but it was enough to get the job done without scraping and scratching things.

Since I did a FW/Clutch job recently, my memory is still fresh. I think I used a 1/2 deep socket on my torque wrench from the top. No U-joint or extensions, just a simple deep socket. I do recall moving/disconnecting some of the engine wiring harness plugs to give me some more wiggle room. Note my Z is a DE model, I think you have far less room if you're working on an HR.

When I was changing the clutch out with my dad we were able to get to it from underneath the car. With an impact at that. I think an air ratcheting wrench/impact.

I still remember doing my FW/clutch over two years ago, and I was able to put together some extensions and my impact gun from underneath the car. It worked out really easy for me.
